Soil improvement methods for Cornus officinalis planting
For Cornus officinalis woodland, the operation of turning under green manure should be done well, which can reduce soil moisture evaporation, store water and preserve moisture, and can also increase soil organic matter content, playing a role in fertilizing the soil. For planting sites with relatively large slopes, the work of earthing up tree plates should be done well, which can prevent water and soil loss, so that nutrients can ensure normal growth and development.
1. Turning under green manure
From late June to late July, in combination with intertillage and weeding, after removing or harvesting weeds, small shrubs, etc. near the tree plate with their roots, within the vertical projection of the tree crown, cover and turn under grass with the trunk as the center, with a turning-under depth of about 15 cm, a radius of 0.5-1 m, and a thickness of 10-20 cm, and cover with soil and turn under.
Weeds in Cornus officinalis woodland can improve the soil and increase organic matter content after being turned under, so spraying herbicides or plant growth regulators is strictly prohibited during the growth period.
2. Earthing up tree plates
On hillside land above 45 degrees, build up and earth up from November to December. With the trunk as the center, at the edge 50-60 cm from the root crown, use stones to build a circular enclosure, with the enclosure horizontal to the base of the trunk, mix humus and soil and fill the enclosure full, and keep the earth slightly higher than the edge of the enclosure. During the dormant period, in combination with earthing up and fertilizing, constantly repair the tree plate washed by rain.
