1. Marking out Marking out and digging holes: The orchard is first plowed twice and harrowed twice, with deep turning and ripening to a depth of 30cm. For orchards on hillsides, planting is done along the contour. First, from top to bottom, establish a vertical baseline, and according to the baseline and the plant spacing, mark out the planting points for two contour planting rows at the middle and foot of the hillside to the left and right. Then, using two points to form a line, mark out the planting points for the other contour planting rows. For flatland orchards, use the main road and branch roads as baselines and mark points according to the specified plant and row spacing, with each planting row parallel or perpendicular to the roads. The planting hole size is 80×70×60cm, and holes should be dug 2-3 months before planting.

2. Application of base fertilizer

Apply 20kg of organic fertilizer (cow manure, pig manure, etc.) and 1kg of phosphate fertilizer (superphosphate or calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer) per hole. Mix the fertilizer with topsoil and apply it in the middle and lower layers, then backfill the surface layer with topsoil mounded 15-20cm above the ground. Base fertilizer should be applied 1 month before planting.

3. Planting technique

Plant before rain or on cloudy days. If planting on a sunny day, do it in the afternoon. Dig a small hole in the planting hole, place the seedling with its soil ball in the hole, tear open the plastic bag from the bottom and roll it upward to remove it, keeping the soil ball intact. When filling with soil, firm it from the outside of the soil ball. The planting depth should leave the root crown slightly above the soil surface. After planting, build a ring-shaped soil ridge and water thoroughly to settle the roots. After that, if there is no rain, water once every 2-3 days until the plant survives.
