Since the beginning of winter, temperatures have remained on the warm side, citrus orchard soil moisture content is relatively high, and some citrus trees have begun to sprout winter shoots, which is very unfavorable for citrus flower bud differentiation this winter. If not handled properly, it will cause serious effects on citrus production next year. Citrus growers should promptly carry out the implementation of flower-promoting measures for citrus. For citrus trees that have sprouted winter shoots, if the winter shoots have not turned green, they should all be picked off promptly, and paclobutrazol and dormin should be sprayed to control shoots and promote flowering; when the winter shoots have basically turned green, foliar fertilizers such as monopotassium phosphate should be sprayed to promote the shoots' maturity.

This year, temperatures in Sihui City have remained on the warm side, and for newly bearing citrus trees and relatively vigorous bearing trees, the ring-cutting method to promote flowering is relatively suitable. The specific method is to use a small knife to make one ring cut around the trunk or main branch of the citrus tree, so as to achieve a better flower-promoting effect. In addition, ring cutting should avoid windy weather, and if strong cold north winds are encountered within 10 days after ring cutting, water should be applied promptly to protect the leaves.

For bearing citrus trees whose leaf color is still relatively dark green after ring cutting or root pruning, flower-promoting agents such as Huaguoling and Huaduoduo should be sprayed 1-2 times before the end of December to promote flowering.

It is now the citrus harvesting season. After harvesting, nucleotide foliar fertilizer should be sprayed 1-2 times on bearing citrus trees, thereby increasing the sap concentration of the citrus trees and promoting flower bud differentiation. For citrus trees with excessive fruit bearing and relatively pale leaf color, fertilizer should be applied well before and after harvesting, mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, so that the trees quickly recover their vigor.

While carrying out flower-promoting measures, take advantage of the favorable opportunity in winter when citrus huanglongbing is easy to identify, promptly carry out citrus pest and disease control work, thoroughly dig out and remove huanglongbing-infected plants and burn them outside the orchard in a centralized manner, ensuring normal growth of citrus.
