Reasons for Brown Spots on the Leaves of the Massangeana Cane (Dracaena fragrans) and How to Fix Them

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
The main causes of spots on the leaves of the Massangeana Cane are diseases brought on by environmental problems or improper fertilizing. Below, I'll share with you the causes of this problem and the solutions!

1. Disease

In fact, it can catch diseases because of environmental reasons, and this kind of disease happens to make the leaves develop spots. Generally, this occurs when the temperature is relatively high and the light is not very good. In short, as long as conditions don't match its suitable growing environment, some disease will always quietly appear. It usually occurs on newly grown leaves. At first the spots are yellowish-brown and round in shape, then they slowly turn black and appear as individual grains, and on the underside of the spots the leaf color is purple. If we notice symptoms like these appearing, we need to remove them quickly, and after removing them we also need to burn them. After that, we need to spray powdered carbendazim on them, with an interval of ten days between each application, and each round of treatment requires three to four consecutive sprays. If there are relatively few of these plants at home, we can use miconazole nitrate cream (Daktarin), so the diseased spots won't keep getting bigger. After using these things, our lighting needs to return to normal, and watering and ventilation also need to return to what is suitable for it.

2. Roots

If you don't fertilize according to the standard, it can cause its roots to rot, and at this point the spotting phenomenon can occur. So what we need to do is cut off the rotted parts, then use fresh soil to replant the plant. In addition, on the cut part we need to use fine sand, as only then can new roots grow. After that, we need to cut off some of the diseased leaves, and when providing water, don't water directly; you can spray instead. If you want to place it outdoors, then you must wait until the temperature is above 15°C. During this period, fertilizing also can't be done carelessly; we must wait until new leaves have grown before carrying out this operation.
