Cauliflower is a type of vegetable, a variety of cabbage. Cauliflower is a plant of the crucifer family, a one- or two-year herbaceous plant with broad leaves, a blunt base, wavy edges, smooth and hairless, bearing yellow-white flowers. Leaves grow from the roots, the main stem and branch stems grow from the leaves, and the stems are covered with small granules that form a flower-like shape. The flower is a fleshy mass, and as a whole it looks much like a large blossom, white and attractive. The flesh of cauliflower is tender, sweet and delicious, and is very easy to digest and absorb after eating.

Morphological characteristics of cauliflower Cauliflower is a type of vegetable, a variety of cabbage. Growth habits of cauliflower Cauliflower prefers cool conditions and is a semi-cold-tolerant vegetable. Its heat tolerance and cold tolerance are both inferior to those of head cabbage; it tolerates neither high temperature and drought nor frost. Its suitable growing temperature range is relatively narrow, and cultivation places fairly strict demands on environmental conditions, mainly determined by the botanical characteristics of cauliflower. Because the product organ of cauliflower is the curd formed by the aggregation of shortened flower branches, flower axis, flower buds and so on, the curd is both a reproductive organ and a nutrient storage organ. Biologically speaking, any organism at the reproductive stage is in its most fragile stage with the poorest stress resistance, so cauliflower has a relatively weak ability to withstand adverse environmental conditions such as high temperature, drought and frost during the curd growth and development period. In terms of the growth habits of cauliflower, the aggregated curd serves as a nutrient storage organ. Under suitable environmental conditions, cauliflower shifts from vegetative growth to reproductive growth, and must go through a process of nutrient accumulation and storage with the curd as the carrier, so that the curd fully grows and becomes firm. If at this stage the external conditions exceed its own suitable range, such as high temperature and drought, the above process will be shortened, and its shortened flower branches will rapidly elongate under high temperature, making the curd small and loose, and cultivation will not obtain a satisfactory harvest. Bacterial black rot, along with cauliflower gray mold, is one of the main diseases of cauliflower and affects cauliflower yield. So how should cauliflower gray mold be prevented and controlled? What is gray mold? Gray mold is a fungal disease common in open fields and protected cultivation and relatively difficult to control. It is a low-temperature, high-humidity disease. The pathogen grows at 20-30°C, and when the temperature is 20-25°C and humidity remains above 90%, it is the peak period of the disease.

Causes of cauliflower gray mold: the pathogen is a fungus, caused by infection with Botrytis cinerea, spread by diseased residues, airflow and rain, and it occurs relatively easily at temperatures of 13-19°C and relative humidity above 90%.

Prevention and control methods for cauliflower gray mold:

1. In the early stage of the disease, use 10% procymidone smoke agent at 200-250g per mu, or spray 6.5% dimethirimol ultra-fine dust or 5% kasugamycin dust at 1kg per mu.

2. After the disease occurs, spray 50% procymidone wettable powder at 2000 times dilution, or 50% iprodione wettable powder at 1000-1500 times dilution, or 40% carbendazim-sulfur suspension concentrate at 600 times dilution, once every 7-10 days, for 2-3 consecutive sprays.
