How to Grow Dictyophora (Bamboo Fungus)? Planting Time and Key Technical Points
Dictyophora is a famous edible mushroom with a delicate, fresh aroma and extremely high nutritional value. It can beautify the skin, fight and prevent cancer, lower blood pressure and blood lipids, boost immunity, and much more. So do you know how to grow Dictyophora? Below, the editor gives you a detailed introduction to the cultivation techniques for Dictyophora!
How to Grow Dictyophora
1. Block-press cultivation: Block-press cultivation is a method in which cultivated Dictyophora spawn that has been fully grown is dug out from bottles or bags, pressed into spawn blocks, and then covered with soil for cultivation. Its characteristics are early and concentrated fruiting, so the cultivation period is also shorter, but the amount of spawn used is relatively large.
2. Direct-bed cultivation: Direct-bed cultivation refers to a cultivation method in which treated bamboo material and the like are spread directly onto the mushroom bed, then sown and covered with soil. It has the characteristics of a large fruiting area and can make full use of mushroom racks for large-scale cultivation. The utilization rate of the mushroom house is more effective than pot cultivation, but the cycle is somewhat longer than that of block-press cultivation.
3. Indoor box cultivation: Use waste wooden boxes as cultivation containers. First spread 5-10 cm of humus soil on the bottom of the box, then spread bamboo segments, wood segments or other substitute materials on top, inoculate Dictyophora spawn onto the material, using 3 bottles of spawn per square meter, and finally cover with fertile soil 5-8 cm deep, water thoroughly, and cultivate at room temperature for mycelial growth. Sprinkle water frequently to keep it moist. Under suitable temperature and humidity conditions, the mycelium can fill the cultivation material in 4-5 months. When the temperature reaches 20-24°C, primordia will form in the surface soil. At this time, the indoor relative air humidity should be maintained above 85%. After the mushroom balls emerge from the surface soil, the relative air humidity should be raised above 95%.
Dictyophora Planting Time and Techniques
Dictyophora can be cultivated when the temperature is above 7°C, and cultivation in October to December is preferable.
1. Indoor box cultivation
Use waste wooden boxes as cultivation containers. First spread 5-10 cm of humus soil on the bottom of the box, then spread bamboo segments, wood segments or other substitute materials on top, and inoculate Dictyophora spawn onto the material. Use 3 bottles of spawn per square meter, and finally cover with fertile soil 5-8 cm deep, water thoroughly, and cultivate at room temperature for mycelial growth.
2. Bed-and-ridge cultivation
Choose a sheltered, shady site and dig a bed-ridge 10-15 cm deep, 100 cm wide, and of unlimited length. Leave 10 cm of loose soil at the bottom of the ridge, first spread a layer of bamboo strips or cut logs (dry bamboo strips need to be washed and soaked for 8-12 hours, then dried of surface moisture), sow 1 layer of spawn on the bamboo strips or cut logs, scatter 1 layer of dry bamboo leaves, and finally cover the top with fertile soil 10 cm deep. If shading conditions are poor, a shade shed should be built over the bed-ridge. Sprinkle water frequently to keep the surface soil moist. From inoculation to harvest takes 10-12 months.
In addition, there are also methods such as spawn block-press cultivation and direct cultivation in plastic bags.
Dictyophora Management Techniques
1. Water management is the key to the success or failure of cultivation. During the mycelial growth stage, soil moisture should be maintained at 65-70%; too much or too little moisture is unfavorable. If the soil is too dry, fine water can be sprayed, but water must not be allowed to accumulate on the soil surface.
2. Management at each growth stage. During the primordium growth stage, the temperature is best controlled at 20-23°C, and the relative air humidity at 70-75%; during the fruiting body growth stage, the relative air humidity should be raised to 90-95%, and water can be sprayed 3-4 times a day; open windows for ventilation 1-2 times a day, 30 minutes each time.
3. Management of outdoor bed-and-ridge cultivation. Strictly prevent trampling by people and livestock. During the mycelial growth process, do not dig in to check it normally, so as not to break the mycelium.
4. Add soil in time. If buried cut logs are exposed above the soil surface, soil should be added promptly to cover them.
The Main Value of Dictyophora
Dictyophora has very high nutritional value. According to analysis, every 100 grams of fresh Dictyophora contains 20.2% crude protein (higher than eggs), 2.6% crude fat, 8.8% crude fiber, 6.2% carbohydrates, 8.21% crude ash, as well as various vitamins and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and iron. The protein of Dictyophora indusiata is extremely rich in amino acids, among which glutamic acid content reaches 1.76%, which is the main reason for the delicious taste of Dictyophora. The fruiting body of Dictyophora is crisp, tender and refreshing, sweet, fragrant and delicious, with a distinctive flavor. As a dish, it tops all mushrooms and can be called the triple excellence of color, aroma and taste. It is a famous mountain delicacy at banquets. Among the major cuisines in mushroom food culture, almost all have famous Dictyophora dishes. "Dictyophora with egg white" in Hunan cuisine is a major famous dish at China's state banquets. In 1972, when former US President Nixon and former Japanese Prime Minister Tanaka Kakuei visited China, they both praised this dish endlessly after eating it. In addition, dishes such as Dictyophora and conch soup, braised bird's nest with Dictyophora, and stewed chicken slices with Dictyophora are all very famous delicious dishes, deeply loved by guests at home and abroad.
The above is the Dictyophora cultivation method introduced by the editor. I hope it can be helpful to everyone! Dictyophora is best planted in October to December. There are also many cultivation methods for Dictyophora, and everyone can choose one of them to grow it!
