Chuxiang is a very beautiful and delicate succulent, especially in direct sunlight, when it takes on a pinkish glow that catches countless eyes. Chuxiang is a very easy succulent to grow, but although it is easy to grow, there are still quite a few things to keep in mind! Below, take a look with the editor at some of the care tips for Chuxiang!

Propagation Method for Chuxiang Succulent (Cuttings)

1. Preparing the soil for Chuxiang cuttings. Find a small flower pot, fill it with your own "growing mix" made by combining coal cinder and leaf mold, then moisten it and leave it in the sun for a short while.

2. Buy a small Chuxiang seedling, or ask a neighbor for one, either is fine. Remove the lower leaves and let them dry in a cool, shaded spot for a while.

3. Then lay the leaves flat on the soil and keep it slightly moist.

4. The rest is just waiting quietly; do not move them around before they root. After about two weeks, the leaves will grow small roots.

5. Then bury the roots in the soil, not too deep, just slightly into the soil is enough. Place it in the sun and let it grow.

6. After a week, leaf buds will grow, and the leaf buds grow very quickly. Once they gradually grow, you can repot them!

Care Tips for Chuxiang

Repotting: Chuxiang is a small to medium-sized plant, and depending on its growth state it should be repotted once every 1 to 2 years. The pot diameter can be 1 to 2 cun larger than the plant diameter, and repot in spring each year. Use a mix of peat and coarse sand for the potting soil, with a small amount of bone meal added.

Watering: During the growing season, water once a week, and never let the potting soil get too wet. In winter, water only 1 to 2 times, keeping the potting soil dry. Pay special attention to the white powder on Chuxiang; when watering, try not to touch the leaves, otherwise water lingering too long in the leaf center can easily cause rot.

Fertilizing: Fertilize once a month during the growing season. Or apply a slow-release fertilizer once per quarter.

Light and temperature: The suitable growing temperature is 18 to 25 degrees Celsius. Chuxiang needs sufficient sunlight for the leaf color to be vivid, the plant shape to be tighter and more attractive, and the leaves to be plump. Too little sunlight causes leggy growth, pale leaf color, loosely arranged leaves, increased spacing between leaves, and thinner leaves. Apart from paying attention to appropriate shading in summer, it can have full sun in other seasons.

How to Make Chuxiang Grow into a Full Pot

1. Growing a full pot by leaf cuttings:

Leaf cuttings mean selecting relatively plump, fleshy leaves and pulling them off the plant, but be careful to keep the pulled-off leaves intact, then lay them flat on the soil and wait for them to root and sprout.

2. Growing a full pot by beheading:

Beheading can only be done once the plant has grown to a certain size. Choose a relatively robust plant, find a spot that is easy to cut, and cut it off quickly, but leave one layer of leaves. The cut-off part should be placed in a spot without sunlight to dry for 1 day to 2 days. Once the cut surface has dried, it can be inserted into the soil, and in about 15 days to 25 days new roots will grow. Right after cutting, be sure not to let the cut surface touch anything, as this will affect its survival rate.

When beheading, if there really is no gap to cut into, you can first pull off a ring of leaves and then proceed with the beheading. This way you can both take leaf cuttings and make the beheading easier.

3. Choosing the time:

If you want them to fill a pot quickly, try to do it in spring and autumn. These two seasons are its growing seasons and are also the most suitable for propagation.

Watering Methods for Chuxiang

1. Summer:

Summer temperatures will gradually rise, and it will also enter its dormant period. At this time, the amount of watering should also gradually decrease, especially when the temperature reaches 35 degrees, when you can pause watering. Wait until after mid to late September, when the temperature gradually returns, before resuming watering. At that time, do not water too much all at once; do it gradually.

2. Winter:

In winter, the soil should be kept on the dry side. If the winter temperature can stay above 0 degrees, you can continue watering, but control the amount; if the temperature drops below 0 degrees, pause watering immediately, otherwise the plant may be frostbitten. Wait until the temperature rises again in spring, then slowly increase the amount of watering. Some friends simply stop watering in winter and wait until spring to water, which is wrong.

3. Growing season:

Its growing season is spring and autumn. During the growing season, watering about once every 7 days or so is enough, and during this period the potting soil must not be too moist.

In summary, the succulent Chuxiang has very strong vitality, is very easy to grow, and at the same time has extremely high ornamental value, making it deeply loved and sought after by everyone. However, when growing succulents, you must pay attention to the watering method; watering too much or too little will both affect their appearance!
