How to Grow Isuzu Jade Succulent into Colorful, Overflowing Pots, Plus Care Methods and Precautions
The Isuzu jade succulent has a cylindrical shape, most commonly seen in green, with a ring of transparent fleshy tissue at its tip, making it look quite distinctive. The Isuzu jade succulent is currently quite popular among consumers on the market, but after many people buy it and take it home, they are not very clear about how to care for it.
How to Grow Isuzu Jade into Colorful (Overflowing Pot)
1. Light: Generally speaking, from autumn to the following spring, it is more suitable to place the plant on a balcony facing south, because you can guarantee three to four hours of direct sunlight every day, with a long period of indirect light for the rest. This way, the sunlight is not too intense, will not scorch the leaf surface, and can also make its leaves more compact; most importantly, it makes its color look even better. However, in summer it is different - at this time, place the plant on the east or north side, maintain good ventilation, and avoid high temperature and high humidity causing the plant to rot. If the plant is outdoors, also be careful not to let it be washed by heavy rain.
2. Temperature: We mentioned its suitable temperature earlier; if the temperature is too high or too low, the plant may go dormant, and its growth will be very slow, let alone changing color. So, although it is hard to keep summer and winter temperatures within this range, do not let them get too high or too low.
3. Water and fertilizer: Generally, our fertilizing should be combined with watering, dissolving compound fertilizer (preferably granular) in water, or mixing liquid fertilizer into water. Isuzu jade particularly likes sunny weather, and its biggest fear is humidity and water accumulating at the roots, so those who do not know how to water it should pay attention: in summer, absolutely do not water from above, otherwise the Isuzu jade will split open from the middle; you should water from the roots, little by little, until the soil absorbs it, about 15 seconds is roughly enough. When you notice that its leaf surface starts to look wrinkled, you must water immediately; if you are really unsure, you can note down the current watering time, and next time you can water earlier. Also, on rainy days there is no need to water, because the humidity is already high. As long as you are careful, an overflowing pot is not a dream.
Isuzu Jade Succulent Care Methods
1. Pot and soil: Repot once every 2 years, in spring. During the growing season, water once every three weeks, keeping the pot soil slightly moist. In the high-temperature summer season, the plant body is in a semi-dormant state, the pot soil should be kept dry, and it should be placed in a cool, ventilated place.
2. Temperature: Fertilize once a month, using fertilizer specially for potted flowers. In winter, when the temperature is low, it is forced into dormancy, and the pot soil should be kept dry. If the winter room temperature is kept above 14°C, the plant can still grow normally.
Precautions for Isuzu Jade Succulent Care
1. When watering Isuzu jade in summer, do not water from above; when watering by the soaking method, if the pot soil has poor permeability, it is best to soak it half-moist. Do not water on rainy days, and even more so do not let it get rained on. In winter, indoors with heating, it can be watered appropriately.
2. Ensure at least 5 hours of light every day; if there are continuous overcast and rainy days, pay attention to ventilation, or use artificial incandescent lamps for supplemental light.
What to Do If Isuzu Jade Leaves Wilt
1. Be a bit lazy. Isuzu jade does not need frequent watering, and a slightly wrinkled leaf is not a big deal. If you are a restless plant owner, it is recommended not to grow Isuzu jade, or to control your hands. Do not water and fertilize at the slightest impulse.
2. Put yourself in its place. Actually, Isuzu jade's need for sunlight is similar to people's, especially in summer - no one wants to be outside under a blazing sun. When you do not need strong light, think of it, change its position, and simple indirect light is enough.
3. Provide water and shade. For plants that have already wilted, you can appropriately shade them, water them, or stop watering; if there is no improvement after about a week, take the plant out of the pot, check the health of the roots, promptly prune any rotten parts, and replant.
If you want to grow the Isuzu jade succulent well and have it overflow its pot, you need to strengthen management of fertilizer, water, and light. However, in summer the temperature is too high and it cannot accept direct sunlight, otherwise it may die from sun exposure, so it needs different care in different seasons.
