Green Yuanbao is a small ornamental plant. Because of its high ornamental value and its ability to purify the air to some extent, it is deeply loved by consumers, who buy it to grow. However, most people do not know much about how to grow it. Let's learn together below!

How to Grow Green Yuanbao

1. Green Yuanbao likes a semi-shaded environment and is not tolerant of sun exposure or deep shade. In winter it can be managed in full sun, which helps it overwinter. It likes high temperatures and is suitable for planting in loose, fertile loam or sandy loam. In winter, avoid long-term moisture. The optimal growing temperature is between 20-30°C. In winter, the overwintering temperature must not be lower than 10°C, and it is best kept above 15°C. During the high-temperature period in summer, avoid strong light.

2. Watering should follow the principle of "dry then wet": water when the pot surface is dry, and water thoroughly when watering. The water quality is best if it is rainwater or tap water that has been left to stand. Fertilizing can be done once a month, and the concentration must not be too strong; applying thin fertilizer is enough to meet its needs. Replace the soil once a year, and add decomposed organic fertilizer to the replacement soil as a base fertilizer. Every day in the morning you can spray water once to increase air humidity and wash dust off the leaf surface, so as to reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases. And when the temperature is suitable, ventilation must be strengthened.

Green Yuanbao Cultivation Methods

1. Temperature: It likes warmth, and the most suitable temperature for growth is 22~30°C. It is slightly cold-tolerant and can endure a brief low temperature of 01, but the overwintering temperature should be kept above 5°C. When the temperature is low, the leaves turn yellow and drop. In winter and summer, avoid being blown by air conditioning heating or cold air, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow or brown.

2. Light: It likes semi-shade. From May to September, shading should be provided, or the plant should be placed in a place with sufficient scattered light. Especially seedlings are not tolerant of strong sunlight exposure. When the light is too strong, the "Green Yuanbao" will disappear early; during high temperatures and strong sunlight, the plant should be placed under a large tree or under a shade shed.

3. Watering: Watering should follow the principle of "dry then wet": water when the pot surface is dry, and water thoroughly when watering. The water quality is best if it is rainwater or tap water that has been left to stand.

4. Fertilizing: Fertilizing can be done once a month, and the concentration must not be too strong; applying thin fertilizer is enough to meet its needs. Replace the soil once a year, and add decomposed organic fertilizer to the replacement soil as a base fertilizer.

5. Propagation method: Seed propagation. For potted plants, the main ornamental object is the large cotyledon at the base of 1-2 year old seedlings, so seed propagation must be used. Seeds should be collected and sown as soon as they ripen, otherwise they easily lose their ability to germinate. After the seeds germinate, the black seed coat should be peeled off so that the cotyledons are exposed to sunlight and turn green. The cotyledons are not only the main ornamental object, but can also carry out photosynthesis to produce nutrients for the growth of the young plant.

Precautions for Green Yuanbao

1. Every day in the morning you can spray water once to increase air humidity and wash dust off the leaf surface, so that the Yuanbao stays green and glossy, and at the same time it can also effectively reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases.

2. Do not worry if the Yuanbao withers. The maximum annual ring of the Yuanbao is only one year. After one year, the Yuanbao will wither and fall off, but do not worry that the plant will die. After the Yuanbao falls off, the plant is still alive. Keeping the green leaves is also a different kind of scenery.

Diseases of Green Yuanbao and Their Control Methods

1. Powdery mildew. Control method: For the chemical, you can choose 25% triadimefon wettable powder 1500-2000 times solution, or 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder 1000 times solution. Spray once every 10 days; the number of sprays depends on the development of the disease. In winter or during the dormant period in early spring, you can use 3-5 degrees Baume lime sulfur mixture to spray the nursery ground. In the early spring germination period, you can use 0.3-0.5 degrees Baume solution. When using eradicant chemicals, combining them with clearing the source of disease gives better results.

2. Slug moth. Control method: During the peak larval period, spray 80% dichlorvos emulsifiable concentrate 1200 times solution, or 50% phoxim emulsifiable concentrate 1000 times solution, 50% malathion emulsifiable concentrate 1000 times solution, 25% phosmet emulsifiable concentrate 1000 times solution, 25% isocarbophos emulsifiable concentrate 1500 times solution, 5% fenvalerate emulsifiable concentrate 3000 times solution.

The cultivation of Green Yuanbao can start from its growth habits. When growing it, it should be handled separately according to the different seasons of winter and summer. In the later stage of cultivation, the control of fertilizer and water must be strengthened. Green Yuanbao is also easily attacked by pests and diseases, so this work must also be done well.
