Is the daisy easy to grow? Home balcony potted cultivation methods and precautions
The daisy is a plant introduced to China from abroad, and it is currently very popular in China. Daisies have high ornamental value, so many people choose them for home cultivation. However, during the cultivation process, many people fail to grow them well because their skills are not sufficient, so what are the correct cultivation techniques?
Is the daisy easy to grow
Whether the daisy is easy to grow mainly depends on the individual's cultivation method. If the cultivation techniques are mastered, growing it is relatively simple, and the survival rate will also be higher.
Home balcony potted daisy cultivation methods
1. Soil: Use a loose cultivation substrate with good drainage and air permeability. The clay content in the substrate is 15% to 30%. About 15% organic fertilizer (such as compost) can be added. Apply 1 kg of fully balanced fertilizer and 2 kg of slow-release fertilizer per cubic meter of substrate.
2. Transplanting into pots: Generally, when the daisy grows 2-4 leaves, the daisies in the seedling pots can be transplanted into the target flower pots or into the ground. When digging up the daisies, do not rush; go slowly to avoid damaging the daisy's root system. It is also best to bring the mother soil when digging, and then transplant, which can effectively increase the survival rate of the daisies. After transplanting, water a little to settle the roots. Daisies can be sown directly into pots or the backyard, but daisies sown this way are not easy to manage and can easily die halfway, so flower lovers are still advised to first sow the daisies in seedling pots, and then transplant once the seedlings are strong enough.
3. Temperature: The suitable temperature for growth is 10°C to 12°C. When cultivating outdoors, covering is needed. To obtain good plant quality, place the daisies under cool conditions as much as possible, but avoid frost to prevent the plants from freezing. Daisies can overwinter safely above 5°C. When the temperature is below 6°C, growth is relatively slow and the formation of flower buds is delayed; when the temperature is above 12°C, the plant leaves become larger, the flower stems become thin and weak, the number of flowers decreases, and the growth vigor declines. After the outdoor temperature gradually becomes warmer, attention should be paid to timely ventilation.
Precautions for growing daisies
1. The daisy is not tolerant of shade and cold during the growth period and likes sunny places. Therefore, it should be placed on the balcony and kept photosynthesizing at all times.
2. In winter, relatively high humidity and excessively moist leaves make it prone to gray mold. During cultivation, a slightly humid environment can be chosen, but it must not be too wet.
3. The daisy has clustered basal leaves. If ventilation is not strengthened, the base is prone to rot, thereby becoming infected with pathogens.
4. If the daisies have not been divided and transplanted after autumn, at the end of autumn the seedlings and buds can be lifted from the pot, separated, with a little old soil left on the roots, and then a handful of moist soil rich in humus fertilizer can be taken and sprayed to maintain moisture, so as to promote vigorous growth of the fibrous roots.
How to fertilize and water daisies
1. Watering. During the period when the seedlings have just emerged, continue to keep the potting soil moist, but avoid waterlogging. Then, as the seedlings grow, gradually reduce watering so the seedlings adapt to the environment and prepare for planting. After transplanting, water only when dry; when watering, water thoroughly. In summer, when the weather is relatively hot and dry, increase the frequency of watering.
2. Fertilizing. Newly emerged daisies can be given a little fertilizer to promote root growth and leaf growth, but do not apply fertilizer that is too concentrated or apply too much, since newly emerged daisy seedlings are still very fragile. In addition, the daisy is a flowering plant that likes fertilizer, and the base fertilizer in its medium alone cannot meet its growth needs. Therefore, after transplanting, follow the principle of applying dilute fertilizer frequently, and appropriately increase fertilizer when the flowering season (March to June) is approaching.
In fact, as long as the correct cultivation method is used, daisies are still very easy to grow. When growing them at home, be sure to pay attention to the soil ratio, the control of light and temperature, and strengthen the management of fertilizer and water in the later stage. With these done, I believe the daisies will grow very well.
