Cineraria, I believe everyone is fairly familiar with it, because cineraria has a beautiful plant shape, gorgeous flowers and rich colors, and is often used as a potted plant to decorate rooms or courtyards. But if you want to grow potted cineraria well, you also need to master the right cultivation techniques! Below, the editor will explain in detail the planting methods of cineraria for everyone!

Propagation Methods of Cineraria

1. Seed propagation

Seed propagation is the main propagation method of cineraria. From sowing to flowering, cineraria takes about half a year. Sow in late July, and it will bloom by the Spring Festival. You can also determine the sowing time according to when you want flowers. If you want flowers for New Year's Day, you can sow in mid-to-late June. The earlier you sow, the more luxuriant the plant will be, and the more beautiful the flower shape will be. The latest sowing time must not exceed September. Mix 1 part garden soil, 2 parts leaf mold, 2 parts rice husk ash, plus a small amount of superphosphate and decomposed base fertilizer to make the sowing potting soil. When sowing, you can use a wooden sowing box or a shallow pot.

Mix the seeds with a small amount of fine sand and spread them evenly into the wooden box. Cover with a layer of fine soil, preferably until the seeds can no longer be seen. You can use spraying or the soaking pot method to keep the potting soil moist, while also preventing the seeds from being exposed. To maintain moisture, it is recommended to cover the pot with a layer of glass, but at the same time pay attention to ventilation, leaving a small gap on one side.

Place the cineraria sowing pot in the shady side of a cool room away from sunlight or under a shade shed, and while paying attention to ventilation, keep the temperature at 21 degrees Celsius, which is optimal. After about 1 week, the cineraria seeds germinate and sprout. At this time, gradually remove the covering above so that the seedlings can receive sunlight. But at noon when the sunlight is strong, you still need to pay attention to shading. Two weeks after germination and sprouting, full sunlight can be given.

2. Cutting or division propagation

In order to prevent the quality of double-petaled varieties (flowers with multiple layers of petals) from deteriorating or natural hybridization, cutting or division methods can be used for propagation. Most double-petaled varieties can be used for cuttings. From January to June, cut the sprouts from the roots of cineraria or the side shoots produced after flowering and insert them into sand for cutting propagation or division propagation. They will take root in about 20 to 30 days, and after 5 to 6 months of cultivation, they can bloom.

What to Do After Cineraria Finishes Blooming

Cineraria is an annual or biennial herb, and it blooms for only one season, so after it finishes blooming, it can be thrown away. Its leaves look like the leaves of melon plants, and it is mainly propagated by sowing in autumn. Marguerite daisy is Margaret; flower lovers who like growing flowers and shop online should all know this flower. It is propagated by cuttings and can grow into a semi-woody plant. In suitable temperature and climate, it can bloom continuously for a long time. Its leaves are finely divided and feathery, completely different from cineraria.

When Is the Flowering Period of Cineraria

The flowering period of cineraria is from November to May of the following year, and the peak flowering period is from March to April. If you want cineraria to bloom all year round, you can use staged sowing to artificially adjust the flowering period. If you want cineraria to bloom on New Year's Day, you can sow in late August; if you want to enjoy the flowers during the Spring Festival, you can sow in late September; if you want to enjoy the flowers during May Day, you can sow in late December; if you want to enjoy the flowers during the Mid-Autumn Festival, you can sow around May. Cineraria takes about 180 days from sowing to flowering. Everyone can calculate the sowing date according to their own needs, and with careful care, you can enjoy the flowers as you wish.

Is Cineraria Toxic

Of course it is not toxic. It is a variety of chrysanthemum, and we know that most chrysanthemums can be used to make tea or used as traditional Chinese medicine, which is very beneficial. Moreover, this flower not only belongs to the Asteraceae family, it is also an herb and can be used for ornamental purposes. It is not toxic, so everyone can plant it at home with peace of mind and need not worry that it will have adverse effects. It generally grows flowers in winter and spring. The flowers are very bright and beautiful, very fresh and pleasant, and can be planted in flower beds or kept in corridors to decorate the environment.

As mentioned above, ornamental plants generally need careful maintenance, but cineraria is very easy to grow! It is very suitable for lazier flower lovers, requiring only occasional management and not much time in usual care.
