Illustrated guide to fast rooting methods for pothos cuttings: teach you how to make pothos grow vines quickly
Pothos is currently distributed in many parts of our country, and it is a relatively well-known plant variety in our country. Pothos has very strong vitality, so growing it is also very simple. Many people like to propagate pothos, as this allows the pothos to grow more and better, and among propagation methods, cuttings are the most common.
Fast rooting methods for pothos cuttings (illustrated)
1. Prepare the cutting soil. Overall, as long as the soil is loose, breathable, and well-draining, it is fine. Huahua recommends using vermiculite or a mix of coconut coir soil + perlite.
2. Cut the cutting stems. Make sure the stems grow robustly and are free of pests and diseases.
3. Stem treatment. Use scissors to cut the collected stems into nodes, keeping one leaf and one bud point on each node.
4. Cutting. Insert the prepared cuttings into the prepared soil, leaving one third of the cutting exposed. Water thoroughly so that the cuttings and soil are tightly combined. If conditions allow, cover them with a plastic bag.
How to make pothos grow vines quickly
1. Watering: Pothos generally needs a large amount of water to maintain its vital signs, so it should be watered frequently in normal times. If the potting soil where the pothos is planted is especially dry, it will easily affect vine growth. If it is watered frequently, the pothos will be nourished, which can not only maintain the emerald green color on the leaf surface, but also allow it to grow flower vines full of vitality.
2. Temperature: Pothos really does not like staying in severe cold weather. They usually like to grow indoors in a relatively dry, warm, and humid environment. Moreover, when winter comes, do not let the indoor temperature fall below about 15 degrees. At ordinary times, try to keep the potting soil in a moist state.
3. Fertilizing: In order to strengthen the nutrition of the pothos and let it grow vines, it can be fertilized once about every 15 days. Choose a flower fertilizer suitable for it, and dilute it before application.
What medicine makes pothos grow quickly
1. Potassium permanganate. This medicine has high oxidizing properties and can play a very good disinfecting role. It can be used to disinfect rotted pothos roots, prevent pathogens from continuing to spread, and can also help pothos take root. We can dilute it to about 0.2%, then soak the pothos roots or cuttings in it, and after taking them out, transplant or insert them as cuttings.
2. Aspirin. Besides helping us humans treat symptoms such as colds, this medicine can also let pothos that has just been repotted and transplanted quickly adapt to the new environment, helping it overcome the wilting caused by not adapting to the new environment. When using it, we can dissolve 1 gram (about 2 tablets) of aspirin in 500 milliliters of water, then pour it into the flowerpot.
3. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate. It can effectively supplement P and K elements for pothos, help pothos improve disease resistance and lodging resistance, and can significantly increase growth speed. We can buy it at a store, and when using it, dilute it with water and spray it onto the leaves.
Common pothos diseases and their control
1. Anthracnose. Control method: Clean the leaves, wash the leaves with a clear water spray, and expose them to more sunlight at ordinary times. Spray medicine. Once infected with anthracnose, it can only be contained with medicine. You can choose carbendazim, thiophanate-methyl, or tanterling, dilute the solution and spray it once every 1~2 days, and improvement can be seen after 3~4 times.
2. Root rot. Control method: During the onset period, spray 50% carbendazim, or directly use the solution to drench the roots. In severe cases, directly change the soil, pull out the pothos, remove the rotted parts of the roots, and replant.
3. Leaf spot disease. Control method: Remove diseased leaves in time, pay attention to ventilation, and provide sufficient sunlight. Spray medicine: use a 500-fold solution of amobam and spray it for control.
The cutting propagation method for pothos is actually not difficult. The main thing is to prepare the soil ratio, then carry out the cuttings. After cutting, maintenance must be carried out. The number of waterings should not be too many, the temperature should not be too low, and disease control also needs to be carried out at the right time. Only in this way can the survival rate of pothos be higher.
