Kubao peach is an especially popular peach; its flesh is crisp and delicious, sweet and juicy, and it is deeply loved and sought after by food lovers. As Kubao peach becomes more and more popular, and in recent years more and more people have been planting Kubao peach, it has leapt to become a very hot planting project. So do you know how many jin of peaches one mu of Kubao peach can produce? How should Kubao peach be planted and managed?

How Many Jin per Mu Does Kubao Peach Yield

Under normal circumstances (using open-center training), the yield per mu of Kubao peach trees in the third year of planting is about 1500 jin, and after 5 years they enter the full fruit period, with a yield per mu of about 5000-6000 jin. With spindle-shaped training, the yield comes on faster (planting density is greater), and the yield per mu in the third year is about 3000 jin.

Kubao Peach Planting Techniques and Precautions

1. Climatic conditions

The most suitable areas for Okubo peach in our province are Baoding, Cangzhou, Tangshan, Qinhuangdao, Langfang, etc. Mountain and hilly areas are better than plain areas.

2. Planting

Planting can be done from after leaf fall in autumn to before peach trees bud the following spring, with autumn planting being preferable; in areas with freezing damage or drought-induced shoot shriveling, spring planting is preferable.

3. Density

Planting density should be determined according to the site conditions of the orchard (including climate, soil and terrain, etc.), the training and pruning method, and the level of management. Generally, ordinary cultivation uses 4m×5m to 6m, and close planting cultivation uses 2m to 3m×5m to 6m.

4. Pollinator tree arrangement

The pollinator varieties should have a flowering period similar to that of Okubo peach; suitable varieties include Yanhong, Jingchun, etc.

Method: The size of the planting hole should preferably be 8Ocm×8Ocm×8Ocm, and can be appropriately enlarged in sandy and barren land.

To prevent peach crown gall disease, before planting, soak the seedling roots in a 1% copper sulfate solution for 5 minutes and then place them in a 2% lime solution for 2 minutes for disinfection. When planting the seedlings, spread the root system out, hold the seedling upright, face the graft union toward the windward direction, and while filling with soil, gently lift the seedling upward and firm the soil so that the roots are in full close contact with the soil. The planting depth should preferably have the root crown level with the ground. After planting is completed, irrigate immediately.

5. Precautions

Harvest at the appropriate time as needed. Okubo is a freestone variety, and harvesting too late easily causes fruit drop and falling fruit. But it should not be harvested too early. Harvest in stages and batches according to ripeness. When harvesting fruit, prepare the harvesting tools well, pick gently and place gently, prevent mechanical damage, and ensure the fruit is intact and undamaged. Try to harvest with the fruit stalk attached.

How to Scientifically Irrigate Kubao Peach

Peach trees are relatively tolerant of drought, and grow normally when soil moisture content is 20%-40%. Especially after flowering and during the rapid fruit growth period, if water is insufficient, it can easily cause a large amount of fruit drop. To ensure good growth and development of peach trees, an adequate water supply is necessary, but their tolerance of waterlogging is poor, and they should not be flooded; in clayey wet land they are prone to peach brown rot and easy yellowing. Many years of practice have proven that irrigation in Okubo peach orchards is mainly concentrated in spring and early summer, especially during the following growth periods when soil moisture is insufficient, reasonable irrigation should be carried out.

1. Bud break period: To ensure peach tree bud break, flowering, leaf expansion and early spring new shoot growth, expand leaf area, and increase fruit set rate, soil irrigation should be carried out, and it should be sufficient and thorough.

2. Pit hardening period: This period is the critical period for water needs in peach trees, and they are especially sensitive to water. If water is lacking, it can cause flower and fruit drop. Irrigation in this period should be moderate, and especially for trees in the initial fruiting stage it should be even more prudent.

3. Early fruit harvest period: In the 2-3 weeks before harvest, if the soil is dry, appropriate light irrigation can make the fruit grow well, with large fruit size and good quality, but absolutely avoid excessive irrigation, otherwise it will reduce fruit quality.

4. After leaf fall: After leaf fall and before the soil freezes, irrigate once with overwintering water, which is beneficial to the next year's growth. If there is excessive autumn rain, winter irrigation may be omitted.

Fruit Bagging

Bagging peach fruit can better change the coloring of the peach fruit surface, making the fruit clean and beautiful, with bright color, white and tender flesh, and improved quality. The bagging method is: carry out bagging after the physiological fruit drop of peaches is basically over, and bag in the order from top to bottom and from inside to outside (note that the fruit stalk should be placed in the center of the bag opening, then tie it tightly to the fruiting branch with wire or string), and remove the bags 4-5 days before fruit harvest to promote coloring; for areas with poor sunlight conditions, the bags can be removed 2-3 days earlier.

The above is a summary by the editor of the planting techniques for Kubao peach, and we hope it can be helpful to everyone. To plant Kubao peach well, you must understand its correct planting methods, because improper planting can seriously affect its quality and yield!
