What is the profit from growing one mu of camellia trees, and are there subsidies for planting them in mountain forests?
The camellia tree is a fairly common type of tree in China. Its fruit can be made into camellia oil, which is very popular among people. Nowadays, a great many people grow camellia trees, but before planting, many people want to have a comprehensive understanding of its profit. If you want to know more, just keep reading!
What is the profit from growing one mu of camellia trees
Based on each plant producing 15 jin of fruit and a conservative market purchase price of 1 yuan/jin, 110 camellia trees per mu produce about 1650 jin of fruit, with an output value of about 1650 yuan per mu. After deducting the annual input of 450 yuan/mu, the gross income is 1200 yuan per mu.
Are there subsidies for growing camellia trees in mountain forests
Camellia trees are generally grown as an economic crop to produce camellia oil. In that case, there should be subsidies under the Grain for Green policy, but the requirements differ from place to place. For example, the government of Neijiang, Sichuan, requires that land converted under Grain for Green be planted with ma bamboo and lemon; land included in that program can enjoy the Grain for Green policy. You can go to your local forestry bureau to ask.
How to grow camellia trees
1. Planting density: Determine the planting density according to the plot, slope, light intensity and management level. For flat land with deep, fertile soil, use a spacing of 3×3 m, 74 plants per mu; for the foot of slopes and gentle slopes, use a spacing of 3×2.5 m, 89 plants per mu; for slopes of more than 20 degrees, use a spacing of 2.5×2.5 m, 108 plants per mu.
2. Land preparation: Clear all weeds and shrubs from the mountain. The size of the planting hole is 40×40×30 cm; where the soil layer is thin, the hole can be made larger. If conditions permit, put 1~2 kg of calcium magnesium phosphate or 5~10 kg of farmyard manure mixed with soil into each hole as base fertilizer; if conditions do not permit, collect surface fertile soil from around the hole and fill it in as much as possible. The backfilled soil should be 20 cm above the ground.
3. Topdressing management: At the young tree stage (1~5 years), topdressing should be mainly nitrogen fertilizer. Each plant needs about 2 liang of urea per year, applied in 4~5 split applications, with many applications and small amounts each time. Dig holes in four directions around the seedling for hole application, about 10 cm away from the seedling.
4. Soil management: In winter, dig over the entire camellia forest, pick out large stones and the roots of vicious weeds, and lay the weeds in the tree holes. The dug-up soil clods should not be broken up fine; let them weather naturally. Weeding should be done 2~3 times a year. The weeds must not be burned; let them rot naturally in the field to increase soil organic matter.
Common diseases and pests of camellia trees and their control
1. Camellia gray leaf spot. In the early stage of the disease, remove diseased leaves to reduce sources of infection, including the removal of diseased and fallen leaves before overwintering, and bury them deeply or burn them. After new leaves grow, spray 70% mancozeb 600-fold solution or 70% thiophanate-methyl ultra-micro wettable powder 1000-fold solution, or 1:1:160-200 Bordeaux mixture, once every 10 days, for a total of 4-5 sprays from June to September.
2. Camellia leaf spot. Remove diseased leaves and spray 75% chlorothalonil 600-fold solution, or 0.15% potassium permanganate solution.
3. Tea tussock moth: When the larvae are clustered together, the infested leaves can be picked off. Do not touch the venomous hairs when picking. In the early stage of larval occurrence, use a 1000-fold solution of any one of 90% trichlorfon technical, 50% malathion emulsifiable concentrate, 25% phosmet emulsifiable concentrate, or 50% fenitrothion emulsifiable concentrate, or a 2000-fold solution of 80% dichlorvos emulsifiable concentrate, or a 3000-fold solution of 2.5% deltamethrin emulsifiable concentrate for spray control.
4. Tea black citrus aphid. In winter, combine with pruning to cut off egg-bearing branches or damaged branches and lower the overwintering population base. During the growing season, pinch off tips or rub off buds to remove damaged and unevenly sprouting new shoots. Reduce aphid food to lower the insect population. Protect and use natural enemies: in seasons with high temperatures, when natural enemies reproduce quickly and are numerous, spray as little as possible or not at all, or use selective pesticides with low lethality to natural enemies, so as to avoid killing natural enemies. Or focus spraying on trees seriously harmed by aphids to protect natural enemies. On trees with few natural enemies, ladybugs, lacewings and other natural enemies can be artificially introduced and released to eliminate aphids.
Whether there are subsidies for camellia trees mainly depends on the policies of each place, so you should ask locally. As long as camellia trees are grown well, the profit is still considerable. When planting, be sure to pay attention to density, and also carry out timely topdressing and pest and disease control.
