Canistel - surely everyone has seen or eaten this food in daily life, right? Canistel contains a variety of amino acids needed by the human body, and eating some in moderation is very beneficial to the human body - it not only beautifies and nourishes the skin, but also has a good effect on improving the stomach and intestines. Planting this fruit also has very good ornamental value, which is why it is loved by many people.

How to plant canistel

1. Soil and water conditions

The peach-shaped type is suitable for planting in places with deep soil layers, fertile soil and sufficient water sources. The round spherical type is suitable for planting in places with thick soil layers, poor soil and little water.

2. Planting time

From March to June each year, transplant the canistel seedlings.

3. Seedling transplanting

When planting small seedlings, they should be transplanted together with the soil so as not to damage the roots. Also prune off some of the tender leaves and branches. Plant them with water, then add soil and cover with grass, and keep the soil moist.

4. Management of young trees

After transplanting, apply fertilizer once a month, applying frequently and lightly. In autumn and winter, apply fertilizer once every two months. In the third year, the young trees begin to bloom and bear fruit; at this time, apply nitrogen fertilizer. During the young tree period, pay attention to watering to ensure the growth of the young trees. Also, the young trees should be properly pruned.

5. Management of mature trees

After four or five years of cultivation, they enter the mature stage and need flower-promoting fertilizer. When bearing fruit, water must be ensured; after the fruit ripens, water must again be controlled to prevent the fruit from splitting. Also, mature trees should undergo heavy pruning, retaining strong main branches.

Canistel planting techniques and precautions

I. Planting techniques

1. Garden site selection

Large peach-shaped and small peach-shaped canistel can be planted in places with sufficient sunlight, deep and fertile soil layers, sufficient water sources, convenient drainage and irrigation, and relatively flat land. But in places with thick soil layers but poor soil and insufficient water sources, it is suitable to plant spherical and spindle-shaped canistel.

2. Preparation of planting holes

For planting on gentle flat land, the row spacing is 3m×4m, and the planting hole is 100cm×80cm×60cm; for planting on sloping land, the row spacing is 4m×4m, and the planting hole is 100cm×100cm×60cm. The planting holes are filled layer by layer with green manure and farmyard manure for green pressing; at planting time, mix in 50-100kg of barn manure and 0.5kg of superphosphate per hole.

3. Field planting

Generally, field planting is done after the new shoots of the seedlings have matured or 3-6 months before new shoots sprout. Seedlings should preferably be transplanted with soil to avoid damaging the root system. If they cannot be kept with soil, after lifting the seedlings, the thicker injured roots should be trimmed flat, soaked in a medicinal solution prepared with ABT rooting powder, then dipped in yellow mud slurry, and then wrapped and tied with wet straw and film and transported to the field. Whether transplanting with soil or without soil, part of the tender branches and tender leaves should be pruned before lifting the seedlings. Before field planting, soak the planting hole with water, then cultivate with water, and cover with soil and grass. After field planting, prevent shaking that could damage the roots and keep the soil moist.

II. Precautions

Common pests include scarab beetles, termites and a small number of scale insects. Bagging canistel can prevent sunscald, reduce damage from pests and diseases, and especially prevent birds from pecking at the fruit. Use double-layer breathable paper bags for fruit bagging. Spray a fungicide once before bagging, and choose a sunny day for better results.

Daily care for growing canistel

1. Fertilization

One month after field planting, according to the principle of frequent and light application, apply fertilizer once a month, each time applying urea and monopotassium phosphate. From September to February of the following year, apply fertilizer once a month, each time applying urea and monopotassium phosphate.

2. Watering

For potted canistel, water supply is very important. Watering time is generally before 10:00 in the morning or after 16:00 in the afternoon; in winter or early spring, it should be done in the afternoon when the temperature is relatively high, so as to avoid drastic changes in pot soil temperature that affect the growth and development of the plant.

3. Bagging to protect fruit

Bagging is carried out after physiological fruit drop. Before bagging, spray pesticide to prevent pests and diseases. Spray and bag on the same day to prevent the fruit from being infected again. Bagging materials can be kraft paper or old newspapers, preferably treated with insecticides and fungicides before use. When bagging, cover the fruit or the entire fruit cluster and tie the bag opening tightly.

4. Shaping and pruning

Canistel has strong sprouting ability. During the young tree stage, attention should be paid to shaping and pruning, reasonably distributing branches, and cultivating a good tree crown. After harvesting the fruit, promptly prune overly dense branches, diseased and pest-damaged branches, shaded branches, and leggy branches to maintain a good tree structure.

Pests and diseases of canistel and their control

1. Scarab beetles

Scarab beetles mainly damage tender leaves and tender shoots from the spring shoot stage to the summer shoot stage. They can be controlled with 1500 times dimethoate, or by using the adult insects' phototaxis and setting blacklight lamps at the edge of the orchard to trap and kill them.

2. Termites

Termites mainly damage the roots and stems of old trees and can be controlled with a 1000-1500 times solution of 48% chlorpyrifos.

3. Scale insects

For a small number of scale insects, spray with a 100-500 times solution of 40% methidathion to kill them, which has a certain control effect.

4. Sooty mold

When sooty mold appears on flowers and fruits, spray initially with 0.1:1:100 Bordeaux mixture or a 400 times solution of folpet to inhibit the spread of this disease.

Although the planting method of canistel is not that complicated, we all know that from the initial planting to flowering and fruiting, it cannot be solved overnight. Therefore, everyone must do the corresponding care techniques well during the planting period.
