In recent years, ginseng fruit has become more and more well known, and its edible value is very high, so it is deeply loved by people. Nowadays many people have started growing ginseng fruit, but before planting, what everyone most wants to know is probably its cultivation method! Let's learn about it together below!

How to grow ginseng fruit seeds

1. Land preparation and fertilization: Before sowing, prepare the land, make beds, apply sufficient base fertilizer, and disinfect, keep the soil moist, and spread a layer of fine sand on the surface of the bed.

2. Seed selection: Good color is required, uniform in size, plump grains, dry and free of mildew.

3. Seed treatment: Warm water soaking, seed dressing with chemicals, etc. can be carried out to achieve early emergence, uniform emergence, and strong seedlings. Wrap the soaked seeds in a gauze bag, provide suitable temperature, moisture and air, and carry out germination.

4. Sowing method: There are broadcasting, drilling and dibbling. Because ginseng fruit seeds are small, the broadcasting method is often used. Sowing should be uniform, generally with a seed spacing of 5×7 or 7×7 (cm).

5. Management after sowing: Spread another layer of fine sand on the surface of the bed to cover the seeds. If the temperature is below 12°C, plastic film should be covered to maintain soil temperature and soil moisture. If the seedling bed is dry, spray fine water to facilitate germination, and never use large amounts of water for sprinkler irrigation. After the seedlings emerge, the plastic film needs to be removed. To avoid exposure to the scorching sun, a shade net can be set up. During the seedling period, generally every 10 days or so, spray once with low-concentration nitrogen fertilizer, and at the same time strengthen field management, prevent and control pests and diseases, and ensure the robust growth of seedlings.

What a ginseng fruit tree looks like

The ginseng fruit tree is just an ordinary tree, and its morphological characteristics are shown in the following aspects:

1. Root: The taproot is well developed, and the root system is distributed around the plant, with a diameter of 250 cm, and within this range the longest root reaches 300 cm.

2. Stem: The stalk, the stalk diameter is generally 100 to 200 cm high, and the maximum can reach 360 cm, the maximum diameter at the base of the stem is 10 cm, and the diameter in the middle of the stem is generally 8-10 cm. The stalk is relatively soft, and support is needed when fruit is set. Each node is 5-6 cm, with a maximum of 10 cm.

3. Leaf: Leaves, the leaf blade is tail-green or light green, alternate, the leaf shape is three to five leaves, the leaf length is 7-9 cm, the width is 4-7 cm, the petiole is 5 cm long, and the leaf axil is extremely strong and can produce branches, so timely pruning of side shoots is needed to avoid affecting fruit set.

Fertilizer and water management of ginseng fruit trees

In addition to applying sufficient base fertilizer, topdressing should also be done twice: once when the fruit seedlings grow to about 30 cm; the other when the fruit seedlings are close to flowering, apply 3 kg each of N, P, and K fertilizer per mu, and irrigate 10 cm away from the main root of the seedlings. During the flowering and fruiting period, boron fertilizer and other trace elements or Baofengsu No. 2 should be appropriately added. Apply N, P, K compound fertilizer in small amounts and frequently, and pay attention to intertillage and weeding. Generally, fertilize once every 10 days, and apply more potassium fertilizer after flowering. March to June and September to November are the periods when ginseng fruit has the greatest water demand for growth and development and flowering and fruiting, so it should be watered in time.

Common diseases of ginseng fruit and their control

1. Cotton blight. Control method: When planting, choose fertile land with good drainage. After planting, cover the ground with film to prevent rain from splashing up pathogens. Frequently apply organic phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to increase disease resistance, prune excess branches in time, and pay attention to ventilation and light transmission when growing in greenhouses. When disease is found, promptly clean up diseased fruits and leaves. The general treatment method is deep burial or direct burning.

2. Sooty mold. Control method: Pay attention to ventilation and air circulation. In high temperature and high humidity, pay attention to cooling and reducing humidity, and water appropriately.

3. Black spot. Control method: Because the temperature difference between day and night in spring and summer is too large, it is conducive to the occurrence and spread of black spot, so attention should be paid to adjusting the temperature difference to prevent the occurrence and spread of this disease.

In fact, the ginseng fruit tree has nothing particularly special. Before planting ginseng fruit trees, the land preparation work must be done well, and then sowing should be carried out at the right time. After planting, management also needs to be strengthened. Timely fertilizer and water management and disease prevention are all very key.
