Speaking of pineapple, there is also a kind called fengli (pineapple). We all know that pineapple must be soaked in salt water before eating. If we eat pineapple without soaking it in salt water first, it gives people a kind of numbing, stinging sensation. Pineapple contains a large amount of fructose, glucose, vitamins B and C, and its nutrition is also very rich, so how is a pineapple tree planted? Let's take a look together with the editor.

How to plant a pineapple tree

1. Preparing the land

Planting a pineapple tree has very high requirements for the soil; it must have sufficient fertility so that it can maintain normal growth and fruiting. Before planting, the soil must first be deep-plowed to increase its air permeability, which will be more conducive to its robust growth.

2. Planting

When planting, holes must first be dug, and sufficient base fertilizer must be applied in the planting holes. Carefully plant the sapling and cultivate the soil around it. The soil around the sapling should be about 50 cm higher than the ground. The planting density should not be too high, as it will affect the pineapple yield.

3. Management

After the young sapling survives, appropriate fertilization is beneficial to its growth. Do not use chemical fertilizer; farmyard manure can be applied. Also prune the branches regularly to avoid consuming unnecessary nutrients. In addition, appropriate pesticide spraying is needed to prevent and control pests and diseases.

How many years until a pineapple tree bears fruit

In theory, pineapples are joined one after another head to tail. Generally, one plant bears one fruit; in a few cases one plant bears two fruits, but then the fruits are relatively much smaller. Pineapple tree production usually has 4 harvest seasons: spring fruit, maturing in April to May; main crop fruit (summer fruit), maturing in June to July; autumn fruit, maturing in October to November; winter fruit, maturing from December to January of the following year.

How to grow pineapple on a balcony

1. Buy a pineapple from a fruit shop that is not too ripe; the leaves must be firm and a healthy green (not yellow or brown). The pineapple's skin must be golden brown. Make sure the pineapple is not too ripe. Gently pull the leaves; if the leaves are easily pulled off, it means the pineapple is too ripe and does not meet our purpose this time. Make sure there are no scale insects at the base of the leaves (generally brown dot-like objects).

2. Cut off the crown of the pineapple and clean off the residual fruit flesh at the cut, otherwise it will cause rot. Turn the cut crown upside down and leave it for about a week to dry, so that the wounds at the cut and the leaf part can heal. Put the dried crown in a large glass, add water, and change the water every few days to maintain a constant temperature. Observe it until roots begin to grow.

3. Plant the crown in a large flowerpot with a mixture of loose soil and 30% organic matter, press the soil firmly along the roots of the crown, and do not bury the soil over the leaves. Keep it moist (but not overly moist), and place it in a warm, humid place where it can get sunlight. Also, the minimum nighttime temperature must be no lower than 18°C. If the environment is dry, you can regularly spray it with a little water to humidify it.

4. Water the soil lightly every week. In summer, fertilize it twice a month. Wait for it to bloom. This takes several years; by then it will produce blue flowers, after which red spherical fruits appear, ultimately growing into a fruit. The fruit takes six months to fully mature.

Precautions for planting a pineapple tree

1. After about two months, the pineapple's crown bud has already developed into a new plant. Gently tug it to see whether new roots have formed. If it looks like it has rotted, then you will just have to start over.

2. You will notice that, slowly, the original leaves of the pineapple crown begin to die and turn brown, and new leaves begin to grow. Over the course of the following year, cut off the original leaves. During this period, the pineapple should be watered no more than once a week.

Planting a pineapple tree also requires understanding some precautions. Planting any fruit tree involves certain common knowledge. Its fruit generally matures in October to November. Actually, growing pineapple is not a very difficult thing. We can still learn about it, and friends who love eating pineapple can plant it.
