AbstractSnow peas can be planted all year round. The dibbling method is best: place 3 seeds in each hole, then cover them well, and once they sprout, fertilizer and water can be applied. During pod formation, focus on fertilizer and water, and timely field loosening of the soil and weeding are also needed, followed by timely pest and disease control.

I. Planting Techniques

1. Planting time. Snow peas can be planted in all four seasons, and summer planting is more popular; the time can be chosen around May each year.

2. Planting method. The dibbling method can be chosen for planting. When dibbling, spacing work must be done well, generally with 10 cm as the optimal distance, and about 3 seeds can be placed in each hole. Before planting, the land needs to be prepared, then the soil should be thoroughly watered once, and then sowing can be done. After sowing well, gently cover with a layer of soil, then wait for it to sprout before watering.

II. Management Methods

1. Fertilizer and water. There are several points for fertilizing: fertilizing when preparing the land, fertilizing when the seedlings emerge, and fertilizing when flowering and forming pods. When fertilizing, pay attention to the amount; fertilizing during pod formation needs to be emphasized, with a larger amount. For watering, pay attention to the amount; roughly water once about every three days in summer, about once a week in the other seasons, and on rainy days watering can be delayed.

2. Loosening the soil and weeding. After sowing, the soil actually needs to be loosened at the appropriate time, as only this can ensure it grows better. After sowing, many weeds may grow due to the influence of fertilizer; at this time, weeding is needed, and acetochlor mixed with water can be chosen for spraying to remove weeds.

Snow Pea Pests and Diseases and Their Control

1. Powdery mildew. Powdery mildew is a common disease of snow peas. When it occurs, there will be many small spots on the surface of its leaves, along with a layer of white powdery substance. The harm is great, and if not controlled in time, it will cause death. Generally, thiophanate-methyl wettable powder can be used to spray the plants, once a week, and about two or three times is enough to cure it.

2. Black leafminer. The black leafminer is a common insect pest. Its harmful characteristic is gnawing on its leaves and stems, and if not controlled in time, it will cause snow peas to suffer reduced yield or death. When it occurs, we can use 40% omethoate mixed with water and then spray for treatment, with very good results.
