Water-and-urine: mix human urine and water at 3:7, soak the garlic for 2-3 days, then cover and wrap it with sand for 1-2 days. Low-temperature refrigeration: soak the garlic for 6-8 hours and put it in a cellar or refrigerator to chill. Top cutting: break the garlic apart, soak it in water for 2 days, then cut off the top 1/4 and cover it with soil.

Four Methods for Sprouting Garlic

1. Water-and-lime treatment method. Mix quicklime and water at a ratio of 1:50 and stir well, put the garlic seed with the residue removed into it and soak for one day, then dress the seed with sulfur powder at a ratio of 1:50, and finally place it in a cool place, cover and wrap it with fine sand or loess for 2-3 days, and once the garlic root sprouts show white, it can be sown.

2. Water-and-urine soaking treatment method. Mix human urine and water evenly at a ratio of 3:7, pour the garlic cloves in and soak for 2-3 days, then take them out, and cover and wrap the garlic with clean moist sand for 1-2 days.

3. Low-temperature refrigeration treatment method. Soak the garlic seed in cool water for 6-8 hours, take it out and put it in a breathable woven bag, and place it in a cooler cellar for 10-15 days; if there is less garlic seed, you can soak the garlic in water for one day and then put it in the refrigerator's cold storage compartment for 10-12 hours.

4. Garlic top-cutting method. Break the garlic apart and soak it in water for 2 days, then take it out, use a small knife or scissors to remove the pointed top of the garlic, generally cutting off 1/4 is enough, preferably until a small hole can be seen in the middle; then put it into a 45% carbendazim 800-fold solution and soak for 10-15 minutes, and finally cover it with soil.

Garlic Planting Requirements

1. Temperature. Garlic likes a dry and cool environment. 12-25°C is the optimum temperature for garlic growth, the optimum temperature for garlic clove sprouting is 15-20°C, the optimum temperature for garlic seedling growth is 14-20°C, the optimum temperature for garlic scape growth is 15-20°C, and the optimum temperature for the garlic bulb swelling stage is 20-25°C. If the temperature is too high, it will cause the garlic bulb to stop growing and enter a dormant state.

2. Light. Garlic has relatively high light requirements, and the average sunshine duration should be above 8-10 hours. If there is insufficient light, its growth and development will be affected.

3. Moisture. Garlic roots are relatively small and are not very good at absorbing water, so when planting garlic, make sure the soil moisture is maintained, prevent the soil from becoming too dry, and water in time to promote garlic growth. However, when the garlic bulb is swelling, moisture must be controlled to avoid problems such as rotten neck and scattered cloves in the bulb, which affect garlic quality and yield.

4. Soil. Garlic has relatively low soil requirements; as long as the soil is soft, it is fine. The pH value in the soil should be controlled at around 6-7. Avoid choosing acidic soil, so as not to cause more garlic diseases and affect yield and quality.

5. Fertilization. Reasonable fertilization during the planting process can increase garlic yield. Nitrogen fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer, farmyard manure, and potassium fertilizer are suitable. Generally, the best fertilization amounts are controlled at nitrogen fertilizer 8.6kg/mu, phosphate fertilizer 7.4kg/mu, farmyard manure 3000-4500 jin/mu, and potassium fertilizer 8.6kg/mu, to improve garlic quality and yield.
