New strawberry cultivation techniques: control the planting density well, and carry out drainage, irrigation and watering promptly as usual
Strawberries are suitable for planting in soil that is fertile and loose, with good drainage and irrigation, and good fertilizer and water retention. After choosing the land, it needs to be plowed and fertilized for improvement, and once the beds are made, planting can begin. When planting, the planting density must be controlled well. Strawberries have high temperature requirements, and the most suitable temperature for growth is 22-25°C. Below 5°C or above 30°C will affect their growth. Later, the orchard should be inspected regularly. Timely drainage, irrigation and watering, as well as pest and disease control, can effectively increase yield.
1. Planting environment
Strawberries are not suitable for planting in uneven, low-lying ground. Strawberries are suitable for planting in soil that is fertile and loose, with good fertilizer and water retention, good drainage and irrigation conditions, and good permeability. The soil needs to be slightly acidic or neutral; too alkaline will affect strawberry development. It is best if the previous crop in the soil was beans or melons.
2. Improving the soil
After choosing the planting site, the weeds in the field still need to be cleared, the soil leveled and disinfected, and after about 5 days of sun exposure, sufficient fully decomposed farmyard manure should be applied. The amount of base fertilizer is generally determined by the area, about 5000 kg per mu, applied together with an appropriate amount of superphosphate and potassium chloride. Fertilization can be done together with plowing, mixing the fertilizer and soil evenly to improve soil fertility. It is best to make beds, which helps strawberry growth and later management.
3. Planting method
When planting, the depth must be controlled well, and only one plant can be planted per hole. It must be ensured that the flower clusters of the plants face the same growth direction. The planting density should be reasonably controlled according to the planting area and soil fertility level. Too sparse or too dense will affect strawberry yield. Whether the planting method is correct or not directly affects later growth and management.
4. Regular watering
According to the water-loving characteristics of strawberries, enough water needs to be applied after planting to settle the roots. After that, the soil must be kept moist, with watering at least once a week. Because strawberries need a large amount of water during growth, especially during the flowering period, timely watering is essential to prevent flower and fruit drop and ensure yield.
5. Reasonable fertilization
When planting strawberries, sufficient base fertilizer needs to be applied, especially during the flowering and fruiting period, when nutrients need to be supplemented in time. We can fertilize reasonably according to different growth stages. For example, the flowering and fruiting stage, fruit expansion stage, and final ripening stage all require large amounts of fertilizer. Mainly apply fertilizers such as diammonium phosphate and monopotassium phosphate to increase yield. When topdressing, attention should be paid to a reasonable mixing ratio and comprehensive nutrition to efficiently promote growth.
6. Temperature management
Strawberries like warmth and have high temperature requirements. When planting, we need to reasonably control their growth temperature and strictly manage the temperature. Strawberries are suitable for growing at around 22° to 25°. Exceeding the range of 5° to 30° will affect the normal growth of strawberries. Strawberries can grow better only at suitable temperatures, so we must keep the temperature within the suitable range.
7. Later management
Regularly inspect the orchard, promptly remove dead leaves, old leaves, and diseased leaves, promptly clean up fallen flowers, fallen fruit, and diseased fruit, and manage plant growth well to prevent excessive vegetative growth. In rainy weather, water accumulates easily, so drainage should be done in time; in drought, water in time. Orchard humidity should not be too high, as this can easily cause root rot and fruit rot and affect yield. Later, pest and disease control work also needs to be done well, as only then can yield be effectively increased.
