Broccoli autumn planting time and methods, ready for market after Spring Festival
Before planting broccoli, you need to cultivate and weed first. When transplanting, water thoroughly to keep the soil moist. We should water broccoli reasonably according to its different growth stages, generally keeping the moisture content at 70%, as too much can easily increase the incidence of pests and diseases. When broccoli is growing, we need to supplement nutrients in time, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, applied together with a small amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. In the later stage, we also need to strengthen field management and do a good job of preventing and controlling pests and diseases in advance.
1. Planting time
The normal planting season for broccoli is autumn. Generally, sowing begins in autumn, winter is its growing season, and after the Spring Festival it can usually be sold on the market normally. It begins to flower in spring, and the seeds mature around April to May, but now greenhouse and other technical methods can be used to grow and market it in the desired season. The best planting season is autumn, September and October, when the phenology is most suitable and the grown vegetables have the highest value.
2. Land preparation and planting
When planting broccoli, cultivation and weeding are needed, and during the early growth stage, cultivation and fertilization are needed. First, before transplanting, water thoroughly to keep the soil moist, then spray an appropriate amount of laso pesticide, which needs to be sprayed evenly and comprehensively on the bed surface. In order to suppress weed growth, do not disturb the soil when transplanting, and cultivation is also not suitable after the rows close. In order to promote the absorption of nutrients by broccoli roots, we need to cultivate in time to improve soil permeability.
3. Reasonable watering
Broccoli is suitable for planting in a moist soil environment and needs a large amount of water during growth. Generally, the soil moisture content is controlled at about 75%, as too much moisture can easily increase the incidence of pests and diseases, such as curd rot. After flower bud differentiation, entering the curd formation stage is the period with the greatest demand for water. If the required water cannot be provided in time, it will affect the formation of the curd, thereby affecting yield and quality. Sufficient moisture also needs to be maintained at harvest time, otherwise it will also affect its economic value, causing looseness, deformities, and other conditions.
4. Reasonable fertilization
Broccoli needs a large amount of nutrients during growth. The larger the plant, the larger the curd. First, we must ensure the normal growth of the plant and carry out timely topdressing to promote its lush growth, so as to ensure the expansion of the curd. Broccoli has a very large demand for nutrients in the early growth stage and the bolting stage, so we mainly use nitrogen fertilizer, applied together with an appropriate amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. During the vigorous growth period of broccoli, not only should more nitrogen fertilizer be applied, but some trace elements should also be supplemented and an appropriate amount of foliar fertilizer should be sprayed to ensure comprehensive nutrition and increase the yield of broccoli.
5. Field management
In the later stage, we need to strengthen field management and do a good job of preventing and controlling pests and diseases in advance to reduce the incidence rate. If broccoli is found to be diseased, it needs to be treated in time. For example, if downy mildew is not treated in time, it can easily lead to black mold disease, and aphids also carry viruses that cause viral diseases. These will all affect the growth of broccoli. Therefore, we should inspect regularly, discover and deal with pests and diseases in time, and do prevention and control work in advance to improve the quality and yield of broccoli.
