New soilless cultivation techniques for cilantro: nutrient solution concentration control is key
For soilless cultivation of cilantro, the first choice is a good planting plot, with an adequate clean water source, sufficient electricity and good ventilation to build a greenhouse. Cilantro is suitable for sowing and raising seedlings in autumn and winter, because seed germination requires a certain temperature. After the seedlings are transplanted, different nutrient concentrations can be set according to different growth stages, promoting photosynthesis and favoring the maturing of cilantro and the increase of chlorophyll. In the later stage, it is mainly enough to prevent and control pests and diseases.
1. Plot selection and greenhouse construction
Soilless cultivation is mainly based on foam boards. Special cultivation boards for soilless cultivation are available on the market. Arrange the cultivation density reasonably and drill holes in the foam boards for cultivation. For soilless cultivation of cilantro, the first choice is a place with a good planting plot, good drainage and irrigation conditions, an adequate clean water source, sufficient electricity and good ventilation. After the site is selected, the greenhouse can be built. During construction, it is necessary to fully isolate it from the outside. For example, prevent the intrusion of animals, pests and diseases, etc., at the places in contact with the ground, the skylights and the greenhouse film.
2. Seedling raising and sowing
Cilantro is generally planted in autumn and winter. The temperature at this time is favorable for sowing and raising cilantro seedlings. In summer, the sowing temperature is too high, so low-temperature germination promotion is needed. Place the treated seeds on seedling sponges. Sowing should not be too deep, because cilantro has two leaves. After sowing, it needs regular watering to maintain sufficient moisture, which is favorable for seed germination. When the seedlings grow leaves, an appropriate amount of nutrient solution can be sprayed to replenish the needed nutrients in time. When 4 leaves have grown, they can be transplanted.
3. Control nutrient concentration
After transplanting, the seedlings mainly absorb nutrients through the roots. In order to reduce planting costs, the nutrients we provide are generally used in a circulating manner. The concentration of the nutrient solution is mainly determined according to the growth of cilantro. For example, the nutrient concentration at the seedling stage is about 1.1, it needs to be increased to about 0.4 in the middle growth stage, and in the late growth stage the concentration can be increased to about 1.9. Strengthening nutrient absorption helps the cilantro plants mature. During the planting process, foliar fertilizer should be applied regularly to ensure sufficient light, which helps increase chlorophyll.
4. Prevention and control of pests and diseases
We mainly focus on prevention for pests and diseases. First, do a good job of isolation from the outside. Try not to use pesticides. When using the nutrient solution, first carry out ultraviolet sterilization and regular disinfection to reduce the number of pathogens and insect eggs and lower the disease incidence. Reasonable management can reduce the incidence of pests and diseases.
