SummarySoil: White Sand loquat is best planted in sandy loam with deep soil layers, loose texture, good drainage and plenty of humus. Light: it is fairly shade-tolerant, but ample light favors flower bud differentiation and promotes fruiting. Water: the growing process requires sufficient rainfall, but if there is a lot of rain during the ripening stage, the fruit tends to split. Temperature: it needs to be planted in areas with an annual average temperature above 12°C; if the temperature falls below -3°C, young fruit will suffer frost damage.

1. Soil

White Sand loquat has a fairly wide range of soil adaptability and can be planted on coastal mudflats and riverbanks or in acidic red and yellow soils. White Sand loquat is best planted in sandy loam or gravelly loam with deep soil layers, loose texture, good drainage and relatively high humus content. White Sand loquat does not have high requirements for soil pH; it can grow and fruit vigorously in soil with a pH of 7.5-8.5 or below 5.0.

2. Light

1. White Sand loquat is fairly shade-tolerant, but to grow and fruit well it still needs to be given sufficient light. During the seedling stage, White Sand loquat should be properly shaded; then, after entering the fruiting stage, it should receive at least 3 hours of direct sunlight every day, otherwise the tree will become weak and the shoot growth will not be sufficiently mature.

2. Although it can still bear fruit, the quality will be poor. Adult White Sand loquat trees need sufficient light, which favors flower bud differentiation, fruit development and coloring, and helps them enter the ripening stage earlier. However, the trunk should not be exposed to direct scorching sun, otherwise the branches and leaves are easily sunburned and will wither.

3. Water

1. White Sand loquat is an evergreen fruit tree. During its growth, it needs sufficient rainfall and moist air. Generally, in areas with annual rainfall of 1000-1200mm, if the rain is fairly evenly distributed, White Sand loquat can grow and fruit vigorously. During the fruit development stage in early spring and the new shoot growth stage, the demand for water is relatively high.

2. However, when White Sand loquat enters the ripening stage, if there is a lot of rain, the fruit is prone to splitting, and the fruit will have poor coloring, a bland taste and late ripening. When it enters late summer and early autumn, less rainfall and a dry climate are needed to slow its growth and favor flower bud differentiation.

4. Temperature

1. It can grow normally when planted in areas with an annual average temperature above 12°C, and areas above 15°C are even more suitable. The White Sand loquat tree has fairly strong cold tolerance, but when the temperature drops to -6°C, flowering will be adversely affected, and when the temperature drops to -3°C, young fruit will suffer frost damage. When the temperature is above 10°C, the pollen begins to germinate.

2. Once White Sand loquat enters the flowering stage, as long as the temperature required for pollen germination is reached, the pollen tubes can elongate and fertilization can occur. If the temperature reaches above 35°C, it is also unfavorable for the vigorous growth of White Sand loquat, causing the edges of young leaves to dry up, roots, branches and leaves to grow slowly, and seedlings to develop poorly. In the middle and late stages of fruit growth, when high-temperature dry weather occurs, sunscald is likely to develop, and it also makes it difficult for sugar to accumulate, resulting in relatively low sugar content in the fruit.
