Management techniques for shiitake mushrooms after water injection
AbstractAfter water injection, shiitake mushrooms require enhanced ventilation in the greenhouse, good control of the temperature inside, and a certain amount of light stimulation as well as temperature difference stimulation to promote mushroom production. For water injection, note that if the mushroom log is heavy, you can first remove the bag to produce mushrooms and then inject water; if the mushroom log is light, you can first inject water and then remove the bag to produce mushrooms. Opening the bag or injecting water must be done after the mushroom log has matured. For the first two water injections, in order to control the amount of water injected, you can use a water injection needle to inject slowly; the third time you can inject freely.
I. Key points for management after water injection of shiitake mushrooms
After shiitake mushrooms are given water injection, be sure to strengthen ventilation in the greenhouse and control the temperature inside to prevent high temperature and high humidity. Appropriately provide a certain amount of light stimulation as well as temperature difference stimulation to promote mushroom production.
II. Timing of water injection
1. After the shiitake mushroom logs are moved out to the field and arranged, the management mode can be decided according to the weight of the logs. You can first remove the bag, then produce one batch of mushrooms, and inject water; or you can first inject water, then remove the bag to produce mushrooms. If the log is heavy, generally for bags of 15-55 jin, with more than 3 jin of water content, use bag removal to produce mushrooms, then inject water. If the log is light, for bags of 15-55 jin, with 2.5 jin or less of water content, you should first inject water, then remove the bag to produce mushrooms.
2. The logs must be opened or injected with water for mushroom production only under the condition that the logs are mature; otherwise it will cause the logs to rot and the core to rot, resulting in huge losses. When the logs produce mushrooms, especially the first flush, the logs have relatively low water content and are prone to water shortage.
3. If the mushroom yield is relatively large, the water in the logs is almost completely consumed, causing severe water shortage in the logs. Therefore, when the flush is about to end, be sure to inject water in time to replenish it.
4. If water is not injected into the logs in time, the mycelium will gradually lose vitality. In this way, the mushrooms produced from the logs will be relatively small in size and thin in flesh, thereby reducing yield.
III. Amount of water injection
1. During mushroom cultivation, the amount of water injection should be strictly controlled, especially at the first water injection. In autumn, in October, when the temperature is relatively high, log rot and core rot are very likely to occur. The logs absorb water relatively easily during the first and second water injections. In order to control the amount of water injected, you can use 1-2 water injection needles to inject water. Note that it should not be injected too quickly; this allows better control of the amount of water injected.
2. After water injection, the weight of the logs: generally for bags of 15-22, the water content should be about 3.2-3.5 jin, which is suitable. For the third water injection, you can inject water freely. By all means, do not seek speed and convenience in the first and second water injections.
IV. Number of water injections
1. After many years of experiments, one mushroom log requires 3 water injections from the start of mushroom production to the end, and soaking once is suitable. Generally, the scientific method of water injection should be that after each water injection, the log will have one batch of injected-water mushrooms and one batch of moisture-return mushrooms. Therefore, after 3 water injections, the log will have 6 flushes of mushrooms, and the final soaking will also produce one flush of mushrooms. Thus, by injecting water reasonably in this way, not only can the yield be increased, but the utilization rate of the log's nutrients can also be improved, saving time and effort.
2. If the number of water injections for the logs reaches 4-5 times or even more, not only does it waste labor and time, but the yield is also relatively low, so the gain does not justify the loss.
