Peach Tree Year-Round Scientific Pesticide Application Management Technical Guide
SummaryEarly to mid-April: Mieshijing (clofentezine) + sulfoxaflor for controlling spider mites and green peach aphid. Mid to late April: apply mating disruption pheromone dispensers to control oriental fruit moth. Early May: prochloraz emulsifiable concentrate + spirotetramat + bismerthiazol wettable powder, for controlling oriental fruit moth, green peach aphid, peach scab, brown rot, etc. Mid-May: use Bordeaux mixture specially formulated for peach trees to control multiple peach tree diseases. Around June 10: acetamiprid + abamectin + prochloraz emulsifiable concentrate, for controlling brown rot, oriental fruit moth, etc.
I. Early to Mid-April
1. Target pests: From peach bud break to before flowering, mainly control spider mites and green peach aphid.
2. Control measures: Use 20% clofentezine 2500x dilution + 22.4% sulfoxaflor 4000-5000x dilution for control. If there are weeds growing between the rows in the peach orchard, acaricides may be omitted. Because spring winds are strong, repeat spraying twice is necessary, and during this period avoid uneven spraying, or spray at night when there is no wind.
II. Mid to Late April
1. Target pests: During the peach flowering period, mainly control oriental fruit moth.
2. Control measures: Apply mating disruption pheromone dispensers to control oriental fruit moth, evenly distributed at 60 points per mu, with 2 g of paste per point, at a height of about 2 m at branch forks.
III. Early May
1. Target pests: When 80% of petals have fallen, mainly control oriental fruit moth, green peach aphid, peach scab, brown rot and other pests and diseases.
2. Control measures: Use 45% prochloraz emulsifiable concentrate 1500x dilution + 22.4% spirotetramat 3000-4000x dilution + 20% bismerthiazol wettable powder 1000x dilution, or 3% zhongshengmycin 500x dilution for control.
IV. Mid-May
1. Target pests: During the calyx shedding stage, mainly control multiple peach tree diseases.
2. Control measures: Use Bordeaux mixture specially formulated for peach trees, replacing the lime in Bordeaux mixture with water glass. Copper sulfate : water glass : water : 3.5% aged vinegar = 1:8:1000:3. For peach orchards with sufficient water resources, spray water to wash off residual nectar on young fruit and sugars secreted by leaf nectaries, which helps reduce pathogen infection. Water usage per mu per spray is about 1.6 tons, and washing needs to be done 3-4 times before the rainy season arrives.
V. Around June 10
1. Target pests: Peach scab, brown rot, peach leafminer moth, oriental fruit moth, peach red-necked longhorn beetle and other pests and diseases.
2. Control measures: Use 20% acetamiprid 1500x dilution + 3.2% abamectin 3000-4000x dilution + 45% prochloraz emulsifiable concentrate 1500x dilution for control. Use sugar-vinegar solution to trap and kill peach red-necked longhorn beetle, with a mixing ratio of sugar : vinegar : water = 50:50:400. Late-maturing varieties need to be bagged with insect-proof fruit bags.
VI. Mid-June
1. Target pests: Before wheat harvest, mainly control multiple peach tree diseases.
2. Control measures: In summer, pruning and thinning of water sprouts is needed to improve ventilation and light penetration in peach trees. Bordeaux mixture specially formulated for peach trees can be used, copper sulfate : water glass : water = 1:8:1000. Since peach trees are relatively sensitive to copper, after the spray dries on the tree, do not repeat spraying; the second spray should be done at an interval of half a month. During this period, it should not be mixed with other pesticides or foliar fertilizers; alternating use may be chosen.
VII. Early July
1. Target pests: Mainly control spider mites, two-spotted spider mite, oriental fruit moth, peach fruit borer and other pests and diseases.
2. Control measures: Use 25% azocyclotin 1500-2000x dilution + 5.7% emamectin benzoate 1000-2000x dilution + Dacotech M-45 80% wettable powder 600x dilution.
VIII. Mid-July
1. Target pests: After harvesting early-maturing peaches, mainly control multiple peach tree diseases.
2. Control measures: Use Bordeaux mixture specially formulated for peach trees, copper sulfate : water glass : water = 1:8:1000.
IX. Early to Mid-August
1. Target pests: Mainly control oriental fruit moth, peach fruit borer, peach leafminer moth, mulberry white scale and other pests and diseases.
2. Control measures: Use Amistar 25% suspension concentrate 1500x dilution + 20% acetamiprid 1500x dilution. This can be applied after harvesting mid-maturing varieties. Dwarf oil sunflower, corn, etc. can be planted in advance to trap and kill peach fruit borer.
X. Late August
1. Target pests: When new shoots of peach trees form terminal buds, mainly control overwintering pests.
2. Control measures: Corrugated cardboard or geotextile can be tied around the trunk to trap overwintering pests, then destroyed in winter. In autumn, apply base fertilizer, perform inter-row rotary tillage for cultivation, and sow biennial weeds, such as winter rapeseed, February orchid, Kentucky bluegrass, oat grass, dwarf wheat, horehound, Bothriospermum etc.
XI. Early September
1. Target pests: When flower bud development is obvious in peach trees, mainly control powdery mildew, overwintering generation of oriental fruit moth, overwintering generation of green leafhopper and other pests and diseases.
2. Control measures: Pruning is needed in autumn to help ventilation and light penetration in peach trees. At night, lights can be used to trap and kill adult green leafhoppers, and remove fall webworm nets. If early control is done properly, further pesticide application is generally not needed.
XII. Mid-October
1. Target pests: Before green peach aphids migrate back and lay eggs, mainly control overwintering green peach aphid, fall webworm, etc.
2. Control measures: Around Cold Dew is the period when green peach aphids migrate back. During this period, spray 4.5% beta-cypermethrin 1000x dilution, which helps reduce the overwintering insect population, and can also simultaneously control fall webworm larvae.
XIII. Late October
1. Target pests: 15 days before peach leaf fall, mainly control infection sites of pathogens remaining on fallen leaves.
2. Control measures: Use 3-5 degrees Baumé lime sulfur mixture, or Bordeaux mixture specially formulated for peach trees, copper sulfate : water glass : water = 2:8:1000.
