Yellow Peach Fertilization Timing and Fertilizer Selection Methods
SummaryYoung trees: in mid-February, 20g of nitrogen fertilizer can be applied as a top dressing; after August, the focus is on controlling shoot growth, with more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer used; after October, dig deep pits, and apply 20-50kg of decomposed pig manure and cow manure plus 1kg of calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer per tree. Mature trees: in mid-February, apply 2kg of bio-organic fertilizer and 0.5kg of 45 compound fertilizer per tree, then in September dig deep pits on both sides of the canopy, and apply 3-5kg of bio-organic fertilizer and 40-80kg of farmyard manure per tree.
I. Fertilization Timing for Young Trees
1. In mid-February, after the young yellow peach trees sprout, to promote budding and shoot growth, apply 20g of nitrogen fertilizer per tree as a top dressing, and apply once more after 1 month. The amount should not be too much, to avoid excessive vegetative growth of branches and weakening of tree vigor.
2. After the young yellow peach trees sprout, water once a week for 3-4 consecutive weeks, maintaining frequent light watering. In the young tree stage of yellow peach, autumn application of base fertilizer is needed, generally mainly organic fertilizer, with an amount of 150-225kg/hm2, along with 15kg/hm2 of superphosphate and 1.5-3.0kg/hm2 of urea.
3. Generally, for young trees planted for 1-2 years, multiple top dressings are needed to promote shoots and expand the canopy. The principle of frequent light application is generally adopted, with quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer as the main component in the early stage, then combined with decomposed human and livestock manure or biogas slurry, with an appropriate amount of superphosphate extract added. Top dressing starts 1 week before shoot emergence, applied once every 10-15 days for 2-3 consecutive times.
4. After August, the focus is on controlling shoot growth, and during this period more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer is used, which helps promote shoot maturation and flower bud differentiation. After October, dig deep pits, and apply 20-50kg of decomposed pig manure and cow manure plus 1kg of calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer per tree.
II. Fertilization Timing for Mature Trees
1. Generally in mid-February before sprouting, apply 2kg of bio-organic fertilizer and 0.5kg of 45 compound fertilizer per tree, which can be applied in ring-shaped trenches. Then before the pit-hardening stage, mainly apply quick-acting phosphorus and potassium fertilizer; apply 50-100kg of decomposed bran water and 0.25-0.5kg of high-potassium compound fertilizer or potassium sulfate per tree as a drench application. At this time, the fruit is rapidly expanding and new shoots and roots begin to grow, requiring a large amount of nutrients.
2. For yellow peach trees with vigorous growth, apply less. Then 2 weeks before fruit harvest, apply compound fertilizer (15:15:15), with 0.5-1kg of compound fertilizer, 0.25-0.5kg of urea and 50g of Chilibor per tree, mainly to restore tree vigor.
3. Then in September, dig deep pits on both sides of the canopy, 1.5-2m long, 35cm wide and 50cm deep, and apply 3-5kg of bio-organic fertilizer and 40-80kg of farmyard manure per tree. As the fruit load on the canopy increases, gradually increase the amount of fertilizer applied.
4. Generally, for mature yellow peach trees, the top dressing before sprouting is mainly nitrogen fertilizer, with 450-600kg/hm2 of urea applied per hole. Dig 4-5 fertilization holes 20cm deep per tree. Water timely before sprouting; do not water too much during the fruit-setting stage. During the fruit enlargement stage of yellow peach, mainly apply compound fertilizer once, with an amount of 450-600kg/hm2. Generally after mid-July, control the amount of nitrogen fertilizer and irrigation water, and appropriately increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, to avoid excessive vegetative growth of the plants and help promote flower bud differentiation.
