Peaches, due to their wide market sales, good economic returns, and ease of cultivation and management, are favored by many farmer friends and are widely cultivated in China. So, how to treat peach tree and peach fruit diseases?
1. How to treat peach tree and peach fruit diseases
The main diseases are peach scab and peach anthracnose.
1. Peach scab
It mainly damages the fruit, and can also damage twigs and leaves. When the fruit is first affected, dark green round small spots appear on the fruit surface, which then gradually expand.
Prevention measures: Before sprouting, spray 5° Baume lime sulfur mixture to eradicate or reduce the overwintering inoculum sources on twigs; from half a month after petal fall to June, spray 0.2-0.4° Baume lime sulfur mixture every half month, and 0.5:1:100 zinc sulfate lime solution; in winter, combined with pruning, remove diseased branches, or eliminate and reduce overwintering sources of the disease.
2. Peach anthracnose
Symptoms: Young fruit infected with the disease turns dark brown, its development stalls, and it shrinks and hardens. When slightly larger fruit is infected, dark green water-soaked spots initially appear on the fruit surface, then expand and become sunken and dark brown.
Prevention measures: In winter, combined with pruning, remove diseased branches and diseased fruit to reduce sources of the disease; before germination, spray 5° Baume lime sulfur mixture; from the time the fruit is the size of a bean, spray a 600-fold organic sulfur preparation solution, or a 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder 1000-fold solution; pay attention to orchard drainage and apply appropriate fertilizer to prevent excessive vegetative growth.
