What pesticides are good for controlling pests and diseases in Sanhua plum
Sanhua plum is a specialty agricultural product of Wengyuan County, Guangdong Province. In 2010, it passed inspection by the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and became a China National Geographical Indication product. The Sanhua plum fruit is white with a rosy blush, has no astringency when eaten and a honeyed flavor, crisp and refreshingly sweet with a mouthful of fragrance. So what pesticides need to be used when growing Sanhua plum?
1. What pesticides are used for Sanhua plum
Sanhua plum is generally treated with pesticides only when pests or diseases appear, and biological pest control and other measures are also generally used against pests. Commonly used pesticides include Cuixi, prochloraz?, copper oxychloride and dichlorvos, myclobutanil?, Bordeaux mixture spray, Supracide (highly toxic), acetamiprid and other pesticides.
Cuixi and prochloraz are generally used when Sanhua plum develops anthracnose. This disease causes the twigs above and below the affected part to die back, brownish nearly round lesions to appear on the fruit surface, and the fruit to rot. In addition, when Sanhua plum develops anthracnose, it should also be combined with pruning and clearing of the orchard to improve the air permeability of the orchard, and diseased branches, dead branches and diseased fruit should be removed and burned in a centralized manner.
Copper oxychloride and dichlorvos are used when Sanhua plum develops gummosis. When Sanhua plum shows this disease, transparent soft gum gradually oozes out, the cortex and xylem of the diseased part turn brown and necrotic, and in severe cases the tree vigor declines, with some branches and even the whole plant dying. For treatment, 30% copper oxychloride + 80% dichlorvos (1:1) diluted 600 to 800 times should be sprayed on the ground and trunk.
Myclobutanil targets powdery mildew of Sanhua plum. When Sanhua plum develops powdery mildew, irregular chlorotic yellow spots appear on the upper surface of the leaves, the underside of the leaves is covered with a white powdery layer, and in severe cases the leaves dry up and fall off. Damaged young leaves can also become deformed and twisted. After this disease appears, myclobutanil is generally sprayed 2—3 times respectively during the spring shoot flushing stage and the young fruit stage.
Bordeaux mixture spray is generally used to treat Sanhua plum pocket fruit disease. This disease generally occurs after flowering. The specific symptoms are that diseased leaves and twigs become thickened and twisted, and diseased fruit is initially bluish white, later turning reddish brown to dark brown, with no stone in the fruit or a small stone offset to one side. For treatment, Bordeaux mixture is used for spraying.
Supracide (highly toxic) targets pests of Sanhua plum, mainly Sanhua plum scale insects. The female adults and nymphs of this insect pierce and suck the sap of branches and trunks, causing tree vigor to weaken until the branches die and even the whole plant dies. When applying this pesticide, it is generally sprayed 2—3 times, once every 7—10 days.
Acetamiprid treats Sanhua plum aphids. The adults and nymphs of aphids gather on tender branches and leaves, flower buds and fruit to suck sap and cause damage, leading to deformed plant organs, deteriorated nutrition, and slow or stagnant growth. They can also induce sooty mold and spread a variety of viruses. Spraying this pesticide can generally be done at the flower bud stage and from after flowering to early summer.
The above are the main types of pesticides needed for Sanhua plum. When using pesticides, they must be applied according to the specific symptoms of Sanhua plum, and should not be used arbitrarily.
