What fruits are suitable for growing in Sichuan?
Sichuan is a provincial-level administrative region of the People's Republic of China, located in the inland area of Southwest China, so what fruits are suitable for growing in Sichuan?
Fruits suitable for growing in Sichuan include citrus, peaches, loquats, grapes, and so on. Because Sichuan has a subtropical humid climate, it is suitable for growing many fruits, but the specifics also depend on the local temperature and environment.
1. Citrus
Citrus is a plant of the Rutaceae family and the Citrus genus. It likes to grow in a warm and humid climate. The growth and development, flowering, and fruiting of citrus trees are closely related to environmental conditions such as temperature, sunlight, water (humidity), soil, wind, altitude, terrain, and slope aspect. The growth and development of citrus requires a temperature of 12.5-37°C; temperatures that are too high or too low will affect the growth of citrus.
2. Peach
The peach is a deciduous small tree whose fruit is eaten as a fruit. The main varieties include: nectarine, flat peach, Shouxing peach, and ornamental peach, among which nectarine and flat peach are cultivated as fruit trees, while Shouxing peach and ornamental peach are mainly for ornamental use.
Peaches are mainly propagated by grafting, and can also be propagated by sowing, cuttings, and layering.
3. Loquat
Loquat, also called luju, jinwan, luzhi, and so on, is a plant of the Rosaceae family and the Eriobotrya genus. Loquat likes light and is slightly shade-tolerant. It likes a warm climate and fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Its suitable growth temperature is around 12-15°C, and it can grow well in areas where the temperature does not fall below 0°C.
4. Grape
The grape is a woody vine of the Vitaceae family and the Vitis genus. During normal growth, grapes must have a certain intensity of light, but when the light is too strong, especially when the grapes enter the pit-hardening stage, sunburn is more likely to occur. At this time, bagging can be used, or when retaining leaves on the plant, try to keep the leaves that can shade the grape berries.
There are more than 8000 grape varieties in the world, and about 800 in China, such as Zaohong, Zaomeigui, Jingzaojing, Jingzijing, Cuihong, Red Banana, Zaomaonao, Purple Pearl, and Phoenix series varieties.
