A vegetable commonly eaten in daily life is mung bean sprouts, that is, the sprouts grown from planting mung beans, which are delicious and have a smooth, tender texture. Some friends have asked whether red beans can also be grown into red bean sprouts for eating? What are the specific growing methods?

1. What are the growing methods for red bean sprouts?

In fact, the method for growing red bean sprouts is similar to that for mung bean sprouts, and attention to details in several aspects is needed to grow them well. Two growing methods are mainly described below:

1. Growing red bean sprouts in a plastic bottle

Prepare a somewhat larger plastic bottle, cut off the bottle mouth, then use a nail to poke evenly sized holes in the bottom of the bottle and set it aside. Select plump red beans and soak them overnight. When small white dots appear on the red beans, pour them into the prepared plastic bottle. During this period, keep them out of light and wrap the plastic bottle with a black towel.

In addition, prepare a flower pot saucer to catch water so that moisture does not leak out. The top of the bottle still needs to be wrapped with black cloth, and water it on time. Water once every five or six hours, watering thoroughly each time, and place it in a ventilated, cool place. Generally, if handled properly, the tender sprouts can be harvested for eating in one week.

2. Growing red bean sprouts in a vegetable basket

Wash the basket we usually use for washing vegetables, then spread a layer of wet towel on the bottom. The red beans should likewise be selected plump, and soaked overnight in advance. Then pour the soaked red beans into the vegetable basket, cover the red beans with a layer of wet towel, and place them in a cool, ventilated place. Usually, add clean water to the vegetable basket in the morning and evening, continue to cover with the wet towel, and keep them out of light. Generally, the red bean sprouts can be harvested for eating in ten days.

It is worth noting that no matter which method is used to grow red bean sprouts, a suitable growing temperature of 25°C is more appropriate. When selecting seeds, try to choose new red beans from the current year, and do not use old beans. Water thoroughly each time, and do a good job of keeping them out of light.

2. Common ways to eat red bean sprouts

1. Red bean sprouts in cold dressing

First, after harvesting the red bean sprouts, wash them and set them aside. Cut the scallions, ginger, and garlic and put them in a small bowl.

Next, heat water in a pot, add a small amount of salt, ginger, etc. After it boils, put the red bean sprouts in and blanch them until cooked, then scoop them out and let them cool, about one minute.

Finally, add salt, light soy sauce, aged vinegar, chili, scallions, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, etc., mix well, and you can enjoy the dish. The specific seasonings to add can be decided according to your own taste.

2. Stir-fried red bean sprouts

If stir-frying red bean sprouts, the method is not too different from making other green vegetables. First pour an appropriate amount of lard into the pot, then add garlic and dried chili to release their fragrance, then add the washed red bean sprouts and stir-fry for a few minutes. To keep the red bean sprouts tender and green, it is not recommended to stir-fry them for too long.
