Jasmine is a famous raw material for scented tea and an important raw material for fragrances. In milk tea shops on every street and alley, there will always be a few cups of jasmine tea. In addition, jasmine flowers often appear in our sight as landscaping plants, adorning interiors and appearing elegant and pleasant. So how is jasmine propagated?

1. How to Propagate Jasmine

There are two common ways to propagate jasmine, mainly cutting propagation and layering propagation. Cutting propagation means cutting off part of a jasmine branch and inserting it into sandy soil for cultivation, then transplanting it after it roots; layering propagation means burying a branch in moist soil, or wrapping the branch with other moisture-retaining materials (such as moss), creating dark and moist conditions for rooting, and after it roots, cutting it off from the mother plant so that it becomes a new plant. The specific methods are as follows:

Cutting propagation is carried out from April to October. Select a mature 1-year-old branch, cut it into cuttings with more than two nodes, remove the lower leaves, insert them into a cutting bed made of half sand and half soil, cover with plastic film, maintain relatively high air humidity, and roots will form after about 40-60 days.

Layering propagation uses a relatively long branch. Make a gentle cut below a node, bury it in a small pot filled with sand and soil, keep it moist regularly, and it will begin to root after 20-30 days. After 2 months, it can be cut off from the mother plant to become a seedling and planted separately.

2. How to Cultivate Jasmine

Jasmine flowers are fresh and elegant. Many flower lovers like the fragrance of jasmine. During the jasmine flowering season, the light fragrance fills the whole room, making people feel relaxed and happy. So how should jasmine be grown?

1. For potted jasmine, the growing medium is required to be rich in organic matter and to have good water permeability and aeration. Use garden soil from a park, add leaf mold, and mix in base fertilizer.

2. Jasmine likes moisture, is not drought-tolerant, and fears waterlogging. It can be watered in the morning and evening, but waterlogging must not occur. On rainy days, jasmine should be moved to shelter from the rain in time. In summer, water in the morning and evening. When watering, try to use rainwater or fully fermented rice-washing water.

3. Jasmine likes fertilizer. From June to September during the flowering period, apply liquid fertilizer containing more phosphorus frequently, preferably once every 2-3 days.

4. The temperature for growing jasmine should be kept at around 20-24 degrees. If the temperature is too low, jasmine will stop growing. 22 degrees is the most suitable temperature and can promote the sprouting of new buds.

5. Jasmine likes high temperatures and fears cold. It can be placed in direct sunlight. The longer the sunlight duration, the more fragrant the flowers.

The above is some little knowledge about jasmine. Friends who grow jasmine at home, have you ever seen the beauty of jasmine when it blooms?
