Which fruits can you grow yourself from seed?
Many fruits have seeds, and some can be eaten directly, while others can be grown into potted plants for use as bonsai. So which fruit seeds can you grow yourself?
1. Tamarind
The way it looks just after sprouting is like a big-headed doll that has grown little wings. By the way, this potted plant will also fold its leaves at night.
2. Dragon fruit
Separate the seeds from the dragon fruit and dry them in the sun. Scatter the dried dragon fruit seeds over prepared soil, and then it is time to water. Note that when growing dragon fruit in a pot, you cannot pour water directly; instead, use a spray bottle to sprinkle water gently. After watering, cover it with plastic wrap, and every other day uncover the plastic wrap and water once with a spray bottle. In this way, after three to five days, once the seeds have sprouted, you can remove the plastic wrap covering them.
3. Papaya
When papaya is ripe, it has a large number of black seeds. Scoop them out, wash them, and soak them in water, just enough to cover the seeds. Change the water every day to remove impurities, and after about 4 to 6 days they can be planted. For potting, choose a container without drainage holes, fill it 9 parts full with sterile soil, sprinkle some water, and make the soil surface slightly moist. Scatter the seeds on the soil without letting them overlap, then sprinkle flour or other small stones on top, and spray water once a day to make the pot completely moist. Place it in a cool, ventilated spot to grow the seedlings, and after about 10 days small sprouts will appear.
4. Mango potted plant
After eating the mango flesh, first clean the pit. Cut open the outer coat of the pit, and you can see the seed inside. Soak the seed in water until it sprouts. At this point we can plant it in potting soil. Use loose, fertile, well-drained humus soil or sandy soil, dig a hole suitable for the size of the seed, place the end with the young sprout facing up and the other end facing down, and put the mango seed into the soil. Finally, water thoroughly and place it in a spot with scattered light. Generally, from planting to the sprout emerging takes 3-4 days, and the growth is very fast; in one week it can be 10-18 cm tall.
5. Lychee
After eating lychees, keep the pits, and be careful to clean off the flesh and white tissue on them, then rinse them clean with water. Prepare a bowl, pour in water, and soak them for a week. During this time, change the water every day, and soak until the seeds crack. Place the cracked seeds with the light-colored disc facing up, then put them into potting soil and spray water once every two days. They sprout in about 7 days. Potted lychee grows very quickly. Just wait for it to bear fruit.
Lychee branch growth and flower bud differentiation require a certain amount of sunlight, but if the light is too strong, water evaporation is high, which can easily cause the filaments to wilt, the stigma to harden, and pollination to become difficult. During the fruit ripening stage, sufficient sunlight is needed to enhance the color and flavor of the fruit.
