Because the temperature is relatively high, shading netting should be used to cover from sowing to emergence. When growing bok choy in summer, generally topdress 2 times. The first time is after the cotyledons unfold, applying about 5 kg of urea per mu; the second time is after two true leaves appear, applying about 10 kg of urea per mu.
2. Spring cultivation
For spring cultivation, choose varieties with strong winter hardiness. Generally, excellent local varieties such as Shanghai green, February slow, March slow, Dongchangqing, Te'aiqing, Aijiqing, etc. are used.
Sow in time on the basis of well-prepared soil. Sowing should be uniform; after sowing, lightly rake the bed surface, then firm it by treading or patting. Water in a timely manner according to soil moisture. The sowing rate is about 2 kg per mu.
