Millipedes are also called thousand-leggers. They are a type of pest that likes to gather in groups and reproduce very quickly. So what pesticide should be used to kill millipedes?

1. What pesticide should be used for millipedes?

For millipedes concentrated in contiguous areas with large populations, indoors use 80% dichlorvos emulsifiable concentrate at 300 times dilution for spraying, and outdoors use 2.5% decis at 2500 times dilution, 4.5% beta-cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate at 1000 times dilution, and 50% phoxim emulsifiable concentrate at 1000 times dilution for spraying. Repeat 2-3 times on the same plot, spray continuously for 3 days, and ensure the pesticide and spray solution uniformly penetrate the surface layer of the soil to achieve the ideal effect.

2. How are millipedes killed?

The spread and migration of millipedes can be controlled and killed. Treating from the source is the best solution. Effective killing can be carried out by spreading quicklime in millipede habitats, burning with fire, scalding with boiling water, and spraying pyrethroid pesticides. The best killing times are from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to dark. Based on actual conditions, you can proceed from indoors outward in sequence to outdoors, farmland, and forests in an encircling manner, establish good isolation belts, and strictly prevent millipedes from spreading. If you accidentally touch a millipede and it causes skin allergies, absolutely do not wipe it with alcohol; wash it with soapy water.

3. Are millipedes poisonous?

Although millipedes do not have venomous jaws, they have stink glands on their body segments and can secrete a toxic odorous liquid with an unpleasant smell, which makes poultry and birds dare not peck at them. In addition, if humans accidentally eat millipedes, it can cause allergic swelling of the lips and other symptoms. At the same time, although millipedes do not bite people, when they are touched or handled they can secrete toxins that cause local irritation, and in severe cases can cause obvious erythema, herpes, and necrosis. Wash with plenty of soap and water, but be sure not to use alcohol. If the skin reacts, corticosteroids can be applied locally. If the eyes are injured, they must be rinsed immediately, and corticosteroid eye drops or ointment should be applied.
