What pesticide is effective for controlling wheat rust?
Wheat rust is one of the common diseases of wheat and also one of the most serious types of disease, so what pesticide should be used for wheat rust?
1. What is wheat rust
Wheat rust is a disease whose affected parts are mainly the leaves, leaf sheaths, stems and ears. In the early stage of the disease, chlorotic spots appear, and later reddish-brown powdery pustules (uredinia) appear. The uredinia are relatively small and orange-brown, scattered irregularly on the leaves. Later, on the back of the leaves and on the stems, black broadly elliptical to long elliptical telia buried under the epidermis also grow. These teliospores tend to be arranged longitudinally along the wheat straw.
Wheat rust can be divided into 3 types: stripe rust, leaf rust and stem rust. In our country, all three rust fungi complete the annual cycle by infecting crops such as wheat generation after generation in the uredinial stage.
Generally speaking, when there is more rain in autumn and winter and in spring and summer, when the area of susceptible varieties is large, and when the amount of inoculum is large, rust occurs severely; otherwise, it is mild.
2. What pesticide should be used for wheat rust?
15% triadimefon wettable powder, 20% triadimefon emulsifiable concentrate, or 25% triadimefon wettable powder can be diluted with water and sprayed on wheat. If the disease is relatively severe, the dosage may be increased as appropriate.
In addition to pesticide use, wheat rust can also be controlled by these methods:
1. After the wheat harvest, plow and remove stubble in time to eliminate self-sown wheat seedlings and reduce oversummering inoculum;
2. Do a good job of rational layout of disease-resistant varieties in large regions to cut off the routes of inoculum spread;
3. Plant disease-resistant varieties according to local conditions. This is the basic measure for controlling wheat rust.
In fields where autumn seedlings are seriously affected year after year, seed dressing can also be done before sowing with 60-100 grams of 15% triadimefon wettable powder or 12.5% diniconazole wettable powder.
