Eggplant is a vegetable with quite a few ways to be eaten, and it is also a nutritious and healthy vegetable, so how do you treat eggplant leaf diseases?

The main eggplant leaf diseases include brown spot disease, Fusarium wilt, and Verticillium wilt. The prevention and control methods differ for each disease, and generally all require spraying some fungicidal pesticides for control, such as carbendazim, hymexazol, dimethomorph, thiophanate-methyl suspension concentrate, etc.

1. Brown spot disease

Disease symptoms: leaf spots start as small water-soaked dots, gradually developing into brown concentric rings, with small black dots forming on the grayish-white edges; stem spots are diamond-shaped, and fruit spots also bear concentric rings of small black dots, with the diseased area turning from yellow to brown.

Control methods: you can use iprodione at 1500 times dilution, 47% Kasugamycin-copper oxychloride at 600 times, 70% thiophanate-methyl at 600 times, and other agents diluted with water for spraying. Control can also be achieved through crop rotation, selecting disease-resistant varieties, and in production by improving ventilation and light penetration and reducing canopy humidity.

2. Fusarium wilt

Disease symptoms: symptoms include severe spotting, wilting, or death of leaves, flowers, fruits, stems, or the entire plant.

Control methods: first disinfect seeds by soaking them in 0.1% copper sulfate (for 5 minutes), then wash them clean and sprout them. In the early stages of plant disease, carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl suspension concentrate can be sprayed; in addition, 12.5% synergistic carbendazim concentrated soluble liquid can be used to drench the roots.

3. Verticillium wilt

Disease symptoms: symptoms appear from the lower middle part of the plant; in the early stage of disease, the plant wilts on sunny days and recovers in the morning and evening, and after the disease becomes severe it no longer recovers. In some cases, the branches and leaves on one side turn yellow, and when the diseased roots, stems, and branches are split open, the vascular bundles are blackish-brown.

Control methods: in the early stage of disease, you can choose 77% copper hydroxide at 800 times, 50% carbendazim at 500 times, or 90% hymexazol at 2000 times solution for root drenching, once every 10 days, for 2-3 consecutive times. In severe cases, the diseased plants should be pulled out, and quicklime should be scattered at the spot where they were removed for sterilization treatment, to prevent the pathogen from spreading through watering.
