Soybeans are a very common food in daily life, but in the humid environment of the south, soybeans easily get bugs, so what should you do when soybeans get bugs? Let's take a look below.

1. What to do when soybeans get bugs?

1. Sift out the bugs with a sieve: if you have a sieve with suitable holes, you can use it to separate the beans from the weevils; if not, the steaming tray that comes with a rice cooker is a pretty good sieve. Put the beans into the sieve layer and shake it repeatedly to separate the beans from the weevils.

2. Soak in water to drive out the bugs: pour out the sifted soybeans and soak them in a basin of water for 3 minutes. Do not pour them onto the table, as this will let some surviving bugs fly up and dart around the room. Put them in a basin of water; you will see some damaged soybeans float up, and the bugs will also be submerged by the water. At this point you can scoop out the bad soybeans and pour the bugs out. Rinse the remaining soybeans two or three times until no bugs can be seen inside. Then scoop them out and put them in a sieve to drain off the water.

3. Dry out the moisture: scoop out the treated soybeans and drain them, then you can put them in a pot and stir-fry them briefly to remove most of the moisture, then spread them on a paper lid and take them out into the sun to dry for two days. Put the sun-dried beans into a plastic bag without holes, tie it shut to reduce air entry, and then place it in various containers, such as a glass jar.

2. How should soybeans be stored?

1. Strictly control the moisture content at storage; for long-term storage, soybeans must not exceed 12% moisture. After harvesting soybeans, they must be fully dried on the pods before threshing. For soybeans with relatively high moisture after being stored, sun-drying can be used, but they must be spread out to cool before being put into the bin.

2. Ventilate in good time to dissipate heat and moisture. Newly stored soybean kernels have uneven moisture between them, and combined with the after-ripening effect of soybeans, heat and moisture easily accumulate in the pile, causing heating and mold, so it is necessary to ventilate in good time to dissipate heat and moisture.

3. Low-temperature sealed storage. After winter arrives, ventilation and cooling should be strengthened, and before the warmth of spring, sealed storage should be adopted using a cover or plastic film, which generally allows them to safely get through the summer.
