Many friends like to grow potted camellias at home, and the camellia is also one of the flowers that Huahua quite likes, with brightly colored blooms and very beautiful flowers. The camellia's blooming period is in winter and spring, and now winter is about to arrive. So, how do camellias overwinter?

1. How Camellias Overwinter

When camellias overwinter outdoors, they should be placed in a spot with plenty of sunlight, and avoid growing them in a drafty spot, as they are easily frostbitten. It is best to build a heat-preserving shed for them, or simply put a plastic bag over the plant to keep it warm, and be sure to ventilate it properly on sunny days. Watering should also be restrained; do not use water that is too cold, and do not water when the temperature is low.

1. Placement

If you keep camellias outdoors in winter, then pay attention to the growing location; it is best if they can get sunlight. Do not place them in a drafty spot, because if the plant is blown directly by cold wind, it is prone to cold damage. Usually, when grown outdoors, no ventilation is needed; it is enough to avoid being blown by cold wind.

2. Pay Attention to Keeping Warm

When overwintering outdoors, reasonable cold-protection measures should be taken. If conditions allow, you can build a heat-preserving shed for it, and put the plant inside when the temperature drops in the evening. But if you do not want the trouble, you can directly put a heat-preserving bag over the plant; an ordinary plastic bag will do, and uncover it at noon to ventilate it properly.
