How to treat corn bacterial wilt? These control methods you need to master
Corn bacterial wilt, also known as corn stalk base rot or stalk rot, is a worldwide corn disease, but it has only occurred severely in our country in recent years.So how do you treat corn bacterial wilt? What are the symptoms?
1. How to treat corn bacterial wilt?
You can use 25% Yekuling plus 25% Ridomil powder at 600 times dilution, or 58% Ridomil MZ powder at 600 times dilution and spray during the funnel stage; you can also drench the roots with Metalaxyl at 400 times dilution or Carbendazim at 500 times dilution, applying 500 milliliters of solution per plant. At the same time, strengthen the plant's nutrition to improve the plant's disease resistance. For example, apply 3000-4000 kilograms of high-quality farmyard manure per mu, 13-15 kilograms of pure nitrogen, 8-10 kilograms of potassium sulfate, and so on
2. What are the symptoms of corn bacterial wilt?
1. Corn bacterial wilt mainly occurs during the corn dough stage. In the early stage of the disease, the plant's leaves protrude and show grayish-green drying, resembling frost damage;
2. The root system and stem base show water-soaked rot. As it develops further, the leaves gradually turn yellow, the roots and stem base gradually turn brown, the vascular bundles in the pith discolor, and the stem base becomes hollow and softened, causing the whole plant to lodge;
3. Mild cases also cause the ears to droop and grain weight to decrease. First the root system becomes diseased, with local light brown water-soaked lesions that gradually spread to the entire root system, showing brown rot, and finally the roots become hollow, root hairs become sparse, and the plant is easily pulled up;
4. The leaves of diseased plants become water-soaked from top to bottom, quickly turn grayish-green and die, then gradually turn yellow; the ears droop, and the ear stalk is tough and difficult to snap off; the kernels are shriveled and lusterless, and the 1000-grain weight decreases.
3. What other preventive measures are there for bacterial wilt?
1. Reduce inoculum sources: Do not crush and return the straw from diseased fields to the field. You can burn the diseased plants in a centralized manner and deep plow the soil to reduce the amount of inoculum in the field.
2. Reasonable dense planting: Please sow according to the density recommended on the product packaging bag.
3. Strengthen field management: Combine soil subsoiling and wide-narrow row sowing techniques to enhance root vitality and the level of ventilation and light penetration in the field; pay attention to balanced fertilization, avoid excessive nitrogen application, and appropriately increasing potassium and zinc fertilizer can enhance corn's disease resistance; drain promptly after rain.
4. Control insects to prevent disease: Timely control underground pests, armyworms, and corn borers and other pests that can cause wounds, reducing opportunities for pathogens to infect corn.
The severity of corn bacterial wilt varies, and the treatment measures taken are also different. Everyone should take corresponding measures according to the actual situation.
