What pesticides are good for controlling loquat pests and diseases?
Loquat is a relatively common fruit that can also be used as medicine, and its economic value in cultivation is relatively high. So what pesticide is used for growing loquat?
1. What pesticide is used for loquat
Under normal circumstances, loquat does not need pesticides. If pests and diseases occur, pesticides need to be used according to the actual situation. For example, broad-spectrum pesticides can effectively kill pests on contact, and lime sulfur mixture can also be used to prevent pests and diseases.
1. Lime sulfur mixture is a jujube-red transparent liquid made by boiling quicklime and sulfur powder as raw materials with water. Its main component is calcium polysulfide, and it has the ability to penetrate and corrode pathogen cells and pest body walls. This agent has a broad bactericidal and insecticidal spectrum and strong contact-killing ability. It can control a variety of pests and diseases in fruit trees such as powdery mildew, anthracnose, flower rot, scab, black spot, black pox, brown spot, leaf curl, rust, brown rot, bud blight, as well as spider mites, gall mites, scale insects and others. It cannot be replaced by other pesticides.
2. Because most fruit growers have relatively small orchard areas, boiling lime sulfur mixture is rather troublesome. In addition, in recent years, the price of sulfur powder on the market has risen and its quality is not guaranteed. Moreover, lime sulfur mixture cannot be mixed with insecticides, so insecticides need to be sprayed separately, which costs labor and time. Therefore, in recent years, fewer and fewer fruit growers have used lime sulfur mixture, which has provided business opportunities for some broad-spectrum and highly effective fungicides. At present, the fungicides used for orchard sanitation are mostly triazoles, such as propiconazole, tebuconazole, flusilazole, triflumizole, etc., and the insecticides are mainly organophosphorus types such as chlorpyrifos and profenofos, or their compound formulations.
2. Suitable growing environment for loquat
Loquat likes light, tolerates slight shade, prefers a warm climate and soil that is moist with abundant fertilizer and water and well drained, tolerates slight cold but not severe cold, and grows slowly. It can grow well in areas with an average temperature above 12-15, winter temperatures not lower than -5°C, and during the flowering period and young fruit period not lower than 0°C.
Under normal circumstances, it can also be cultivated in Henan Province, but if the temperature during the fruiting period is below minus 2 degrees, the young fruit will be frozen. The suitable cultivation areas are the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and areas to the south. Fertile soil is best.
Loquat cultivation is relatively simple, and its nutritional value is also very high. Late spring and early summer is the best season to eat loquat.
