Rice is one of the main food crops in Southeast Asia, and its varieties can be divided into two major categories: upland rice and paddy rice. So what should you do if you over-fertilize rice?

1. What to do if you over-fertilize rice?

If you over-fertilize rice, do not drain the water from the paddy field too early; ensure that the rice has sufficient water during its growth while spraying potassium dihydrogen phosphate.

2. How Many Crops of Rice Can Be Grown at Most per Year

Rice can be planted for at most three seasons per year. Usually, in areas with relatively high temperatures, three seasons can be planted, such as Hainan, Guangdong, and Fujian, while in subtropical areas only two seasons can be planted per year, such as Anhui, Zhejiang, and Chongqing. In addition, in Northeast China, usually only one season can be planted per year.

3. Morphological Characteristics of Rice

Annual or perennial herb. Culms erect, tufted; leaf sheaths hairless; ligule long membranous or with auricles; leaf blades linear and flat, broad. Terminal panicle loose and spreading, often drooping.

Spikelets contain one bisexual floret, below which are attached 2 sterile lemmas, both sides very compressed; glumes degenerate, leaving only traces in the shape of two half-moons at the apex of the spikelet stalk; fertile lemma hard and papery, with small warts or fine hairs, with 5 veins, apex with a long awn or pointed tip; palea of the same texture as the lemma, with 3 veins, the lateral veins close to the margin and tightly clasped by the 2 marginal veins of the lemma; lodicules 2; stamens 6; stigmas 2, brush-like, extending from both sides of the spikelet. Caryopsis oblong, smooth, embryo small, 1/4 the length of the grain body. Chromosomes small, x=12.

In addition to the grain being used for food, the culms of rice can be used as fuel, for weaving straw sandals and straw mats, and as raw material for papermaking, and can also serve as dry feed for cattle and horses; the lemma (that is, the husk) can be used as fuel; and the bran is excellent feed for livestock.
