How do you propagate Peperomia leaves? You'll get it at a glance with these detailed steps
Peperomia is distributed in Taiwan, China, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, southern Gansu and southern Tibet. It grows on damp rocks or dead trees. Today we'll introduce how to propagate Peperomia leaves.
1. Choosing leaves for cuttings
When choosing leaves, pick ones that are well-nourished and disease-free; do not choose old leaves. Although old leaves are high in nutrients, they do not grow as fast as fresh leaves. Newly sprouted tender leaves are also no good, as they die very easily after being picked. It is recommended to choose leaves from the middle part of the plant.
2. Cutting the leaves
After choosing suitable leaves, let the cut at the petiole dry in the shade, and then you can proceed to the next step of taking cuttings.
3. Planting the leaf cuttings
When planting leaf cuttings, pay attention to the choice of soil. Peperomia does not need too many nutrients to grow, so it is recommended to use sterilized sand directly as the growing medium. Insert the petiole directly into the sand, then water an appropriate amount, and place it in a cool, ventilated spot. After some time the leaves will take root and sprout, and then you can transplant the leaves with seedlings into a new flower pot for care.
Peperomia can be used medicinally. Taken internally, it treats rheumatoid arthritis and bronchitis; applied externally, it treats sprains, fractures, and boils and sores.
