Red plum blossom is a type of plum blossom, mostly planted as single specimens, in clusters, or in groups in gardens, green spaces, courtyards, scenic areas, and other places, with very high ornamental value; some are specifically planted as a single specimen in front of a house or along a roadside, so what are the precautions for planting red plum blossoms?

1. Soil

Red plum blossom is not strict about soil, but loam that is loose, permeable, and rich in humus is best. For pot cultivation, pond mud that has been frozen and crumbled and mixed with 30-40% rice husk ash is commonly used as the growing medium.

2. Water

Usually keep the pot soil moist. Do not water unless it is dry, and prevent water from accumulating in the pot. From May to June, that is, during the period of flower bud differentiation and formation, carry out “water withholding” by letting the pot soil dry until the old leaves curl slightly and the new shoots shrink before watering again. Repeat this several times to damage the growing points of the new branches and stop their elongation, so as to increase flower bud development; after that, resume normal watering. In general, water again during drought, watering thoroughly each time. After heavy rain or on consecutive cloudy and rainy days, promptly pour out accumulated water in the pot and pay attention to drainage. In June, when the flowers are forming, control water to promote flower differentiation.

3. Planting

Red plum blossom is best planted from November to December, and it can also be done after flowering. Generally, it is best to plant it at a slant, which makes it easier to create a dynamic form when shaping. Before planting, shaping and pruning can be carried out once. When potting, base fertilizer can be placed at the bottom of the pot.

4. Light

Maintain light exposure; red plum blossom is not afraid of sun, and the more it is placed in a spot with ample sunlight, the better it grows. In the hot summer season, do not put it in a shaded place, and do not put it indoors.
