What are the ways plants spread their seeds?
Plants generally grow fixed in one place. To reproduce and expand their growing range, they need to spread their seeds. So what plants spread their seeds?
1. What plants spread their seeds?
Almost all plants spread their seeds, but different plants spread their seeds in different ways, such as:
Aquatic plants such as lotus and water lily spread their seeds through water;
Dandelion, willow, and hyacinth spread their seeds through wind;
Apple, cherry, and wild grape spread their seeds through animals.
Besides the ways above, seeds can also spread by themselves, that is, relying on the plant body itself and not depending on other dispersal agents. The fruit or seed itself has weight, and after ripening, the fruit or seed falls directly to the ground due to gravity, such as the mabolo and the big-leafed sapote; while some capsules and siliques, when the fruit ripens and splits open, produce an explosive force that flings the seeds out, such as the Taiwan Michelia.
2. How to store plant seeds
1. Before storage, choose sunny days and repeatedly sun-dry them, so that the moisture content of medicinal seeds with high oil content is controlled at 8%-9%, and the moisture content of ordinary medicinal seeds is controlled at 12%-13%;
2. When the storage quantity of medicinal seeds is large, choose a dedicated warehouse with good conditions of cleanliness, dryness, heat insulation, ventilation, and moisture proofing;
3. They should be stored in a dry and ventilated place. On the ground, use bricks or logs to raise them more than 50 cm;
4. If the quantity of stored seeds is not large, cement jars or porcelain jars can be used for storage.
