1. How to grow a small bonsai from loquat seeds?

First wash the loquat seeds clean, then soak them in clean water for about a week, and once they sprout you can plant them. Then bury the sprouted loquat seeds in prepared potting soil; you can bury them a little deeper, but be careful to leave the sprout exposed. After that, just water according to how dry or moist the soil is.

2. How do you grow loquat in the open field?

1. Choosing a site

Loquat likes a humid environment with good light. The orchard site should be chosen on gentle, level ground facing south or southeast. It is not strict about soil, but a deep, fertile gravelly soil is best.

2. Density

Choose a planting spacing of 3 m by 3.5 m, and about 60 plants can be planted per mu.

3. Timing

Loquat can be planted in spring or autumn, around March in spring and around October in autumn.

4. Method

Dig the planting holes two months in advance, keeping the topsoil and subsoil separate in their piles. Put fertilizer and straw at the bottom of the planting hole. Add fertilizer to the middle layer, then backfill with the subsoil. Plant two months later, choosing an overcast day or a sunny day after rain if possible.

5. Water and fertilizer

Loquat does not need much watering when grown, and you should also guard against waterlogging during the rainy season; water only when it is especially dry. When the tree is young, fertilize as often as possible but in small amounts, to promote nutrient uptake. In the first year, apply once every half month to 20 days, then apply a top dressing again from September to November. In the second year, apply once each in February, March, May, September and November. In the third year, applying four times in the last ten days of March, May, September and November is enough. After three years, loquat growth enters the mature stage, and during this period fertilizing three times a year is enough.

6. Pest control

Loquat has many kinds of pests. Besides hand-picking and insect-killing lamps, most control methods use pesticides. Doing a good job of pest control can greatly increase the lifespan of the fruit tree, so it deserves special attention.

The survival rate of potted loquat grown from seed is still quite high. Generally, apart from weather that is especially cold and unsuitable for planting, they can basically all grow up safely.
