How should the seeds inside a persimmon be planted?
Once fully ripe, persimmon flesh is very soft and tastes very refreshing and sweet, so it is one of the fruits many people like. People usually throw away the seeds after eating a persimmon, but in fact the seeds can also be used for planting. So, how do you plant the seeds inside a persimmon?
1. How to plant the seeds inside a persimmon
1. Seed selection
This is crucial to the seed survival rate. The most important thing when choosing seeds is of course to choose ones produced in the current year, because only these are the freshest, so you must pay attention and select carefully. Never choose poor-quality seeds just because of a moment of carelessness, otherwise the germination rate will be greatly reduced.
2. Soaking to wake up the seeds
Soak the seeds in warm water at 30°C—40°C for 2—3 days, changing the water once a day. Once the seeds have absorbed water and swollen, and the seed coat can be scratched open with a fingernail, they can be sown.
3. Choosing the planting soil
Just choose a sheltered field with fertile soil, a deep soil layer, plenty of sunlight, flat terrain and good drainage. It is suited to neutral soil, is fairly cold-tolerant, tolerates poor soil and has strong drought resistance, but does not tolerate saline-alkaline soil.
4. Sowing method
Sow in rows with a 20 and 50 cm wide-narrow row spacing, at a sowing depth of 2—3 cm, covering with 2—3 times the amount of the seeds, then cover with grass or fallen leaves to keep the soil moist and prevent crusting.
5. Tending and management
Persimmon trees like a warm climate. Just let them get plenty of sun, keep the soil moist and make sure there is drainage.
