How to Plant Pear Seeds? A Detailed Guide to the Planting Method
The pear is a common fruit. It is not only delicious and juicy, sweet with a hint of sourness, but also rich in nutrients. So do you know how to plant pear seeds?
1. How to plant pear seeds
Choose sandy soil with good water permeability and strong air permeability, with the soil being neutral or weakly acidic to weakly alkaline, and apply sufficient base fertilizer. Then, soak the seeds in water for more than twelve hours, spread them evenly in the soil, cover with sandy soil after sowing, and spray an appropriate amount of water.
2. Pear Storage Methods
1. Pear pit storage
A few days before the pears are stored, the cellar should be opened during the day and closed at night. The maximum temperature inside the cellar must not exceed 20°C, the minimum must not fall below 0°C, and the optimum storage temperature is 1~5°C, with a relative air humidity of 90%~93%. During the pear storage period, ventilate once every 6~7 days, inspect once every 25~30 days, and promptly remove damaged, diseased and rotten fruit. This method can store pears until early to mid-February of the following year.
2. Controlled atmosphere storage
Controlled atmosphere storage is mostly used for storage in large tents or small plastic bag packages, and where conditions permit, controlled atmosphere warehouses and controlled atmosphere machines can also be used. When storing pears in large tents, the optimum temperature is 0~1°C, the relative air humidity is 93%~95%, oxygen is 2%~4%, carbon dioxide is 2%~3%, and nitrogen is 93%~96%. When storing pears in small plastic bag packages, the optimum temperature is -1°C, the relative air humidity is 90%~95%, oxygen is 12%~13%, carbon dioxide is 0.5%~1%, and nitrogen is 86%~87.5%
Pears can relieve constipation, aid digestion, and are also good for the cardiovascular system. In folk medicine, pears have another therapeutic effect: remove the core from the pear, add rock sugar, and eat it after steaming, which can also relieve coughs; besides being eaten as a fruit, pears can also be used for ornamental purposes.
