Autumn is the harvest season, and all kinds of autumn fruits come onto the market in turn. Persimmon is one of them, and after eating a persimmon, its seeds can also be planted as a potted plant. Persimmons have been cultivated in China for more than 3000 years, and they are not only nutritious but also contain a large amount of sugars and various vitamins. Today let us learn together about how to plant persimmon seeds after eating.

1. How to plant persimmon seeds after eating

Wash the persimmon seeds (stones) with the flesh removed clean, place them in a cool and ventilated spot to dry, then plant them in prepared potting soil, cover with about 5 cm of soil, and water thoroughly. After that, water once every half month, and from the end of March water once every 7-10 days; by mid-April they will sprout, and at that point the potted plant is complete.

2. How to care for a potted persimmon

1. Soil

The persimmon tree is a sun-loving species and likes a warm climate. It is suitable for planting in deep, fertile, moist soil with good drainage, and it adapts to neutral soil. It is relatively cold-tolerant, but it is also fairly tolerant of poor soil, has strong drought resistance, and is not tolerant of saline-alkaline soil.

2. Light

A potted persimmon can be kept in a place with plenty of sunlight and good ventilation. If there is not enough light, the branches will not be sturdy, the root system will grow poorly, the flower buds will not fully differentiate, and flowering and fruit set will be sparse.

3. Temperature

In winter, keep the potted persimmon overwintering in a cool room with plenty of sunlight or outdoors in a wind-sheltered, sunny spot. It needs a low-temperature dormant period of no less than about 36 days below 10°C to ensure the plant goes dormant, which is beneficial for growth the following year.
