Hanliancao is a common traditional Chinese medicinal herb in our country, with the effects of nourishing the liver and kidneys, darkening the hair and strengthening the teeth, and cooling the blood to stop bleeding. So what is the difference between Hanliancao and Mohanlian?

Hanliancao and Mohanlian are the same thing. Mohanlian is also known as Hanliancao or Zhuyacao, and is the whole plant of the Asteraceae plant Eclipta prostrata. Every year in summer and autumn, the whole plant is cut, the mud and sand are removed, and it is sun-dried or shade-dried before being used as medicine. The Chinese patent medicine “Erzhi Wan” is made from the two herbs Mohanlian and Nuzhenzi. It appears in the Ming dynasty text Shesheng Zhongmiao Fang, is a traditional Chinese herbal formula, and is also said to be a health-preserving formula handed down by Sun Simiao.

This product was originally named Lichang and was first recorded in the Tang Bencao. Modoucao is also called Hanliancao. Modern pharmacological research suggests that it can restore degenerated immune organs in animals to normal, thereby enhancing cellular immunity and humoral immunity. A decline in immune function is a major cause of illness and aging in the body. The effect of Hanliancao on immune function may be the pharmacological basis for its health-promoting and life-prolonging effects.

The effects and actions of Hanliancao:

1. Hanliancao treats bloody dysentery: Hanliancao combined with Tiexiancai can treat bloody dysentery, using 15 g each of Hanliancao and Tiexiancai. Decoct and take.

2. Hanliancao treats diphtheria: pounded Liancao can treat diphtheria, using 60-90 g of Hanliancao. Pound it, add a little salt, pour boiling water over it, remove the residue, and take the liquid. After taking it, spit out the saliva and froth.

3. Hanliancao can clear the upper and tonify the lower, and can also turn white hair black, regulate the waist and knees, strengthen the sinews and bones, and reinforce insufficient yin. It is especially effective for people who indulge in wine and lust and have phlegm-fire: on the winter solstice, take any amount of Dongqing, dry it in the shade, mix it thoroughly with honey wine, cover it for a day and a night, wipe off the skin with a coarse cloth bag, sun-dry it, grind it into powder, and store it in a new earthenware jar; wait until the summer solstice, take several tens of jin of Hanliancao, pound it to obtain the natural juice, boil it into a paste, and mix it with the previously prepared medicinal powder to make pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 100 pills each time, swallowed with wine at bedtime.
