1. How many years does it take for a potted fig to bear fruit?

A potted fig generally bears fruit in the same year the seedling is planted. It is currently one of the fastest fruit trees in the world to come into production, with high yields, few pests and diseases, and easy cultivation and management. Most varieties bear fruit in two seasons, summer and autumn, and the fruit ripens successively from June to November.

2. How do you grow figs in pots?

1. Container: Choose a clay pot, porcelain pot, cement pot, wooden box or wooden barrel with good air permeability. The size should be suitable, with a diameter of 40-50cm being best, and it must not be smaller than 30cm. The height can be similar to the pot diameter, or slightly larger than the pot diameter.

2. Potting soil: The potting soil should be loose, rich in organic matter, and good at retaining fertilizer and water, with good air permeability. Sandy loam or clay loam is best. You can make your own mix using 1/3 loam, 1/3 sand and 1/3 decomposed manure.

3. Planting: Plant the fig seedling into the potting soil. Before planting, first fill the pot with more than half a pot of nutrient soil and press it firm, then water thoroughly. After the water seeps in, immediately transplant it into the pot with the soil ball, then add more soil so the roots are in close contact with the soil, with the soil surface level with the pot rim, then water again to settle it.

4. Care: Keep the fig in an environment with sufficient light; it must not go without sunlight for a long time, nor be kept in weak light. Do not water too frequently; as long as the leaves do not wilt, there is no need to water. Apply fertilizer reasonably to prevent excessive fertilization from causing fertilizer damage. There are very few pests and diseases, so basically no spraying is needed.
